Debenhams creates unique technology team for its next generation web site Thursday 7 June 2001 PDF Print Award-winning store group selects Microsoft, Conchango and Blue Martini Software to deliver updated web site June 7 2001: The new eCommerce site for leading store group Debenhams is being developed by a unique collaboration of technology providers Microsoft, Conchango and Blue Martini Software. The three industry leaders will implement a customer-focused site with increased personalisation to transform Debenhams' online proposition into a more customer-friendly website. The site, due to go live in Autumn 2001, is designed to be easier to navigate and more customer-focused with the aim of building relationships with both the existing on-line customers and new ones. According to Simon Hawkes, eCommerce Director, Debenhams, the new, more logical, site will enable Debenhams to build "important relationships with our existing customers delivering a consistent and personalised on-line shopping experience". The framework for this next generation site was developed by Conchango, who was also responsible for the delivery of the store group's existing website, with its Queens Award winning wedding list service. Following a comprehensive competitive analysis, Microsoft was selected as the strategic enabler to provide the technology platform which could both support the new compelling online offer and enable it to be easily integrated with existing store operations and business processes. The Blue Martini 4 eCRM application suite will power the site and Conchango will work with Debenhams' in-house team on implementation, as well as the redesign of the site. Mike Altendorf, Joint Managing Director, Conchango, explains: "We have partnered with Microsoft and Blue Martini Software to make the award-winning site even better. Through taking the time to understand the business drivers behind the site, researching and understanding Debenhams brand and target markets, we have been able to develop a strategy and implementation plan to create a solution to match Debenhams' needs exactly." Microsoft is delighted to have been selected as the technology partner. "Our platform will further enhance the business agility, scalability and reliability of Debenhams.com," says Adrian Morrish, retail industry manager. "This project is a unique working partnership which will provide a solution that reinforces Debenhams' commitment to Microsoft through implementing Windows and SQL architecture." "Debenhams is known for its innovative customer service that spans multiple channels, with a reputation for anticipating what its customers want, and delivering it when, and where they want it," says John Crouch, vice president of European Operations, Blue Martini Software. "Blue Martini Software specialises in applications that increase revenues and cut costs, while driving profitable relationships with customers. Our software will be a natural step to Debenhams online offering."
