Seminars Illustrate Active Archiving’s Return on Investment
META Group (Nasdaq: METG), a leading IT research and consulting firm, and Princeton Softech, a subsidiary of Computer Horizons Corp. (Nasdaq: CHRZ), today announced that they have partnered to present a joint seminar series, “Surviving the Global Data Explosion.” To be held in June in Paris and London, each complimentary, half-day seminar is specifically designed to help attendees learn how to survive exponential data growth using an active archiving strategy.
The seminar features Rakesh Kumar, programme director of international enterprise data centre strategies, META Group, as the keynote speaker. Mr Kumar has extensive understanding of the changes occurring in data centers, particularly in consolidation, Internet security, high availability, storage networking and software.
“In dealing with the exponential growth in the amount of data that companies need to manage, data archiving is a key process,” said Kumar. “One of the key issues is for organisations to understand exactly what needs to be archived, before using the tools available. This is where an active archiving strategy helps users understand the concepts of smart archiving and how to increase database performance while controlling database maintenance and capacity costs.”
“The traditional solution to the problem of exponential database growth is to increase capacity by adding more hardware and software,” said Lisa Cash, president and CEO of Princeton Softech. “Active archiving offers a long-term strategic solution because it removes infrequently used data from the production database and stores it on a more cost-effective medium, where it can be easily researched and restored if necessary. With active archiving, customers can eliminate or defer the need for expensive upgrades. In this seminar, participants will learn how active archiving can help them deliver the performance and availability that their customers and end users demand, and at the same time, generate a significant return on their investment.”
The UK “Surviving the Global Data Explosion” seminar is currently scheduled for June 12, 2001 at the Churchill Inter-Continental Hotel, London.
