Integration of ClearTrust SecureControl and CONTROL-SA Centralises
Provisioning and Access Control for Web Resources

BMC Software Inc. (NYSE: BMC), the leading provider of enterprise
management, and Securant Technologies, the company that secures
e-business, today announced a strategic business alliance to
jointly develop, market and sell an integrated solution for
provisioning and managing user access to Web-based applications.

The companies will ensure seamless interoperability between BMC
Software's CONTROL-SA security management suite and Securant's
award-winning ClearTrust SecureControl access management system to
synchronise user and security management, reduce administration
costs, and prevent unauthorised access to applications. This
alliance was fuelled by strong user demand for integration between
ClearTrust SecureControl and CONTROL-SA. The integration between
ClearTrust SecureControl and CONTROL-SA will be completed in Q3

Under the terms of the alliance, BMC Software and Securant will
conduct joint product integration, marketing and sales of
ClearTrust SecureControl and CONTROL-SA solutions. In addition,
BMC Software and Securant will participate in joint marketing and
trade show activities.

"Managing the constantly expanding base of internal and external
users who need access to sensitive applications, especially in
business-to-business environments, is creating administration
burdens beyond the resources of even the largest IS departments,"
said Igal Sapir, vice president of marketing operations for
Enterprise Security Management Solutions, BMC Software.

"Through the integration of CONTROL-SA and ClearTrust
SecureControl, we are providing enterprises with an automated
solution for centrally managing access permissions and protecting
all e-business applications regardless of platform."

Specifically, this integration will enable user profiles and
access rights managed with CONTROL-SA to be linked to ClearTrust
SecureControl, which provides a rules-based access management
infrastructure that automates authentication, authorisation, and
single sign-on to Web-based applications, content and
transactions. Together, ClearTrust SecureControl and CONTROL-SA
will provide a centralised and auditable point of control for
managing access permissions to e-business resources for both
internal and external users.

CONTROL-SA provides IT organisations with tight control over
diverse IT security environments with out-of-the-box support for
more than 50 security systems and applications. The products
achieve effective comprehensive, enterprise-wide security
management from a central point of control with tight integration
to LDAP based directories.

"An integrated approach to user management and security management
is an absolute requirement for maintaining seamless access and
securing e-business applications," said Eric Olden, chief
technology officer, Securant Technologies. "The combination of
ClearTrust SecureControl and CONTROL-SA creates a unified solution
that will address the demand for enterprise-wide user management,
authentication and authorisation."

ClearTrust SecureControl and CONTROL-SA provide a comprehensive
set of security services including:

· Centralised administration of user access rights for all
Web and non-Web information resources, regardless of platform

· Self-registration and provisioning of access permissions
for internal and external users

· Enterprise-wide password management, including password
synchronisation and self-initiated password reset to dramatically
reduce help-desk cost

· Integrated user authentication, authorisation, and single
sign-on for controlling access to all applications within a
company, and across multiple Web domains

· Smart Rules-based authorisation that allows customers to
use natural language business rules to centralise, automatically
assign and dynamically adjust access permissions based on a user's
profile (role, account balance, subscription level, etc.)

· Fraud/threat detection that monitors a user's behavior
within an application and can take countermeasures to proactively
prevent application misuse and fraud
