IBM Sweden today announced that Volvo IT has re-instated IBM as a global supplier of personal
computers to the Volvo Group. Under the agreement IBM will, as one of three preferred
suppliers, deliver NetVista and ThinkPad desktop and portable personal computers to 40 000
Volvo users world-wide, of which approximately 40 percent are located in Sweden.

"IBM has been very sensitive to Volvo's needs, says Christer Ericson, Procurement Manager,
Volvo IT. IBM's e-business based, direct selling model was also an important contributing
factor. The e-business model offers a channel for all our customers within the Volvo Group
to be familiar with the terms and conditions of the deal."

The deal is not only made up of hardware, but also includes Service, Support and Options.
The agreement with Volvo IT, the organisation responsible for IT procurement within Volvo
Corporation, is reviewed on a yearly basis with an automatic continuation and covers all the
companies within the Volvo Group.

"We are very pleased to have Volvo back as a customer", says Peder Bengtsson, Global Account
PCD manager, IBM Gothenburg. The previous agreement ended at the end of 1999, and we have
been able to prove that we are a reliable long-term partner. IBM can deliver a total cost
effective direct sales solution of hardware and services. IBM is a global organisation, but
also has a strong local presence in Gothenburg, the heart of the Volvo world ".

The fulfilment of products and services to the Volvo Group world-wide will be implemented
through IBM's e-business direct sales channel and IBM telesales.
