"IBM has been very sensitive to Volvo's needs, says Christer Ericson, Procurement Manager, Volvo IT. IBM's e-business based, direct selling model was also an important contributing factor. The e-business model offers a channel for all our customers within the Volvo Group to be familiar with the terms and conditions of the deal." The deal is not only made up of hardware, but also includes Service, Support and Options. The agreement with Volvo IT, the organisation responsible for IT procurement within Volvo Corporation, is reviewed on a yearly basis with an automatic continuation and covers all the companies within the Volvo Group. "We are very pleased to have Volvo back as a customer", says Peder Bengtsson, Global Account PCD manager, IBM Gothenburg. The previous agreement ended at the end of 1999, and we have been able to prove that we are a reliable long-term partner. IBM can deliver a total cost effective direct sales solution of hardware and services.
