Enhanced User Interface And Server Integration Brings Broadband Service Fulfillment To New Levels of Efficiency

BroadJump, Inc., provider of software solutions for the efficient and rapid deployment of broadband services, today announced version 2.0 of its Virtual Truck® Installer, the premier installation solution for residential broadband access. In North America, Virtual Truck Installer is already in widespread deployment with leading cable, DSL and fixed wireless broadband service providers such as Adelphia Communications, AT&T Broadband, BellSouth, Road Runner, SBC Communications, Sprint and Time Warner. To follow on its North American success, BroadJump plans to work with the leading UK broadband service providers. For nearly two years, Virtual Truck Installer has helped service providers accelerate time-to-market and subscriber acquisition rates while reducing the operating costs of initial service activation.

With the introduction of Virtual Truck Installer version 2.0, BroadJump further extends the capabilities of its market-leading broadband installation solution. Service providers can more efficiently manage the installation of residential broadband access, from the increased complexity in customer premises equipment (CPE) to the introduction of new fulfillment models such as multiple ISP selection, self-installation and retail.

BroadJump’s Virtual Truck Installer coordinates and automates each step required to install broadband service, from qualifying the subscriber’s computing environment, to configuring the PC and the CPE, to establishing and testing connectivity. With enhancements designed to offer service providers advanced broadband fulfillment models - and subscribers improved usability - Virtual Truck Installer is changing the way service providers fulfill broadband services.

Enhanced user-interface offers advanced ease-of-use during installation
BroadJump’s Virtual Truck Installer is a customisable software solution that allows service providers to streamline and enhance the subscriber’s installation experience. Virtual Truck Installer offers improved usability, increased subscriber satisfaction and fewer calls to service providers' help desks during and after installation.

Now featuring a more sophisticated look and feel, Virtual Truck Installer provides the option to include Macromedia Flash(tm)-based animations for modem or NIC installation and other user activities. As with previous versions, Virtual Truck Installer can be tailored to service providers' business processes and branding requirements, and can
now be localised to support service providers' regional or international market initiatives.

Automated broadband installation requires software intelligence

To remain competitive, service providers must streamline the installation process. Included among the enhancements to Virtual Truck Installer is the ability to tightly integrate devices from leading CPE vendors. Integration with these CPE devices enables Virtual Truck Installer to support a more efficient installation process by installing drivers on the PC, configuring the CPE and uploading modem-specific information for future service diagnostic support. Ultimately, subscribers enjoy a more efficient and faster installation process while service providers gain access to wealth of information on the subscriber environment.

Back-end server functionality enables broadband service fulfillment

Acquiring subscribers quickly is essential in today’s broadband market. Retaining those relationships throughout the entire subscriber lifecycle is critical to service providers’ ability to remain competitive and become profitable. BroadJump’s Virtual Truck Installer, in addition to providing enhanced client-side functionality, also offers server-side functionality through BroadJump’s ControlWorks™ server.

Deployed in service providers’ networks, the ControlWorks server enables service providers to integrate seamlessly with other network components, such as operation support systems (OSS). In addition, the ControlWorks server gives service providers the ability to offer new deployment models by enabling the fulfillment of multiple services during the installation process, such as the selection of an ISP, content and applications.

“To date, Virtual Truck Installer has been responsible for hundreds of thousands of broadband installations,” said Matt Tormollen, Vice President of Marketing for BroadJump. “That experience gives BroadJump a profound ability to anticipate future market requirements and address them with enhancements such as those we’re introducing with Virtual Truck Installer version 2.0. From advanced CPE integration to the introduction of the ControlWorks server, BroadJump’s Virtual Truck Installer is leading the market for the roll-out of broadband services.”
