DataPipe Uses Ensim’s ServerXchange to Automate its Compaq ProLiant Server Infrastructure, Realizing New Revenue Potential and Lower Operating Costs

London UK, June 18, 2001 – Ensim Corporation, the dominant hosting automation provider, today announced DataPipe as the first service-provider customer of the joint sales, marketing and technology initiative with Compaq Computer Corp. (NYSE: CPQ) concerning Linux systems in outsourced data centers. DataPipe has deployed Ensim’s flagship product, ServerXchange™, with market leading industry-standard Compaq ProLiantÔ servers to achieve optimized hosting automation of the Compaq systems and the applications that run on them.

As a result of the recently announced Ensim-Compaq initiative, DataPipe can further optimize the provisioning and management of its Compaq ProLiant server infrastructure utilizing Compaq Intelligent Manageability Tools and Ensim ServerXchange. In addition, DataPipe is able to instantly create a reseller channel using the ServerXchange three-layer control panel for the service provider, reseller and end-user.

“The powerhouse team of Ensim and Compaq gives a focus to our deployment of Linux as we continue to grow our business,” said Robb Allen, president and CEO of DataPipe. “As part of our growth equation, deploying ServerXchange on our Compaq ProLiant servers has streamlined our operations and certainly created new revenue opportunities.”

“Ensim’s relationship with Compaq arose from their mutual experience in the field that service providers need to ratchet up their Linux systems in the face of growing competition,” said Rosen Sharma, president and CEO of Ensim. “The fusion of ServerXchange and Compaq ProLiant servers gives DataPipe a competitive edge through greater scalability, reliability and cost-effectiveness.”

“By combining Compaq leadership in the Service Provider and Linux marketplaces to create innovative solutions with partners like Ensim, we are able to deliver customers like DataPipe highly optimized ProLiant server platforms,” said Mark Linesch, vice president of Service Provider Solutions, Compaq Industry Standard Server Group. “With this initiative Compaq and Ensim continue to drive greater simplification and innovation in the growing Linux Service Provider market and deliver customers the return on investment they require to be competitive.”

Ensim announced a worldwide marketing initiative with Compaq in April 2001.
Under that agreement, Compaq global sales and channel organizations will be trained on the ServerXchange solution with Compaq products, and Ensim will recommend Compaq as its preferred server platform for ServerXchange. Solutions development will concentrate on driving operations management simplification to new levels in service providers’ Internet data centers. The companies will also co-develop a robust and scalable infrastructure solution for hosting providers.

DataPipe is based in Hoboken, New Jersey, and can be found on the Internet at www.datapipe.com.
