Welwyn Garden City Monday 25th June 01 - Today Heroix announces partnership with SuSE Linux. Under the new collaboration, Heroix’s systems management software, Heroix eQ, will be tightly integrated into the latest SuSE Linux 7.2 Professional, released on the 15th June 2001. The integration of a subset of Heroix’s software monitoring rules into SuSE server kit free of charge will allow for more effective management of the server by providing important system level information through monitoring.
"The off-the-shelf nature of the Heroix/SuSE integration will let users easily implement a monitoring solution that will return value in a very short period of time,” said Frank Puranik, Global Technical Director for Heroix. “We are very excited about the Heroix/SuSE integration, and with Linux being billed as the operating system of the future it’s imperative that improving availability of critical systems on the Linux platform is an essential part of this."
Heroix eQ carries out tests on several key system issues and notifies the user in real time of any potential problems. The full Heroix eQ product can monitor upwards of 800 key system issues.
The Linux community has recognised the superior power of the open source system and many organisations are beginning to develop tools that will enable Linux to not only perform on the desktop but also in the enterprise arena offering solutions that will facilitate the use of Linux across the complete IT spectrum.
Dirk Hohndel, CTO for SuSE Linux AG, says "The integration of Heroix Monitoring Management Solutions shows the relevance of Linux for enterprise customers. We are proud to make these comprehensive tools available to our customers and support Heroix in its commitment to Linux."
Paul Roxan, Managing Director for Heroix EMEA says "With Linux becoming the operating system of choice for the lower end server market it seems only a matter of time before the enterprise community sees the benefits of using Linux to run mission critical applications within large enterprise environments." Paul continues "Like Heroix - vendors are beginning to develop products and services for the Linux platform and if this trend continues then Linux, already a proven robust platform, will have full vendor operating solutions and services behind it".
