Networks Telecom, NEC, Birmingham, UK, 26-28th June 2001 (Booth no. 17IPZ22). C3, Europe’s leading supplier of NT-based converged communications platforms for call handling and e-business, has completed the installation of a 240 line Apcentia multi-application communications system for Datatel Connections, a leading service provider in Sierra Leone.
The system installation was notable by virtue of the fact that the entire installation was completed without a single C3 employee setting foot in a country which is recovering from years of internal conflict. The C3 Apcentia converged communications platform was shipped to Sierra Leone pre-loaded with applications, with final software configurations being handled remotely by software engineers from the company’s headquarters in Cambridge, England.
The new platform runs multiple services for Datatel Connections, including:
* Pre-paid calling card services (for use in call shops in Sierra Leone)
* Pre-paid voice mail and multi-party call conferencing services
* Subscription-based and pre-paid Internet access services (via an integrated ISP platform)
The platform will soon be upgraded, again remotely, to operate Short Message Services (SMS).
“As well as providing an ideal example of how C3 can install and support remote sites, this project also demonstrates the flexibility and scalability of our platform” said John Wood, Sales & Marketing Manager for C3. “With Apcentia, Service Providers can start small and expand the platform as demand dictates, adding powerful ‘new media’ services as they do so at relatively low cost. Key to this cost-effective expansion is C3’s unique DVX architecture that effectively lowers the price of expensive resources by sharing them dynamically between large line groups”.
C3’s Apcentia is a scaleable NT-based communications platform designed for network operators and service providers and large scale enterprise/ council usage. It is scaleable to tens of thousands of lines and supports: IVR services; pre-paid services; Voice, fax and email messaging; Call switching and queuing; contact centre applications; auto attendant applications; and Internet services. It is widely used internationally by operators of calling card services, IVR services and value added network services.
C3 is Europe’s leading supplier of NT-based converged communications platforms for call handling and e-business applications. The company has installed over 150,000 lines of converged communications technology worldwide for calling card, IVR, Audiotex, automated attendant, emergency response, contact centre and voice mail since 1990.
