Enhanced software DVD player includes bookmark support, zoom and pan, play list, multiple DVD drive support, slow motion video, screen capture, control panel skins, AutoSense and Dolby Headphone technology

MGI today announced the latest version of its award-winning software DVD player, MGI SoftDVD MAX 6. Supporting all platforms from Windows 98 to the forthcoming Windows XP, SoftDVD MAX 6 delivers high quality, smooth DVD movie playback and crystal clear audio on a laptop or desktop PC. An extensive range of new features provide the user with a high degree of control over their viewing experience, and significantly enhance the quality of playback. MGI SoftDVD MAX 6 will be available from mid July 2001 at an SRP of GBP 19.99 including VAT.

New features in version 6 include a special MGI Navigator, which allows the user to zoom and pan around a movie and review their favourite clips in slow motion. In addition, they can bookmark their DVDs to return to all the best parts in the film, or use the repeat or random playback features when playing audio CDs or songs from a customised MP3 music play-list.

Additional new features include:

- Smooth fast forward

- Screen capture to clipboard memory or file

- Support for multiple DVD drives on one computer

- Control panel ‘skins’

- Dynamic selection of wide screen (16:9) or letter box (4:3) display

- Slider support for AC3, DVD, VCD, MP3, WAV, MID, RMI, WMA, WMV, MPG, MPEG, AVI and CD Audio

MGI SoftDVD MAX 6 also includes Dolby Headphone technology, which emulates 5.1-channel surround-sound through a standard pair of headphones, and MGI’s exclusive SoftDVD AutoSense™ feature, which quickly detects system settings and hardware components such as video and audio cards and CPUs, then self-configures for optimum playback, making it easy to install on any PC.

Designed for easy upgrade to Microsoft Windows XP, a free downloadable update will be made available for MGI SoftDVD MAX 6 users who wish to adopt the new operating system later this year.*
