- Program Management Group plc acquires IM Systems Ltd

Leeds, England – 4 July 2001 – The Program Management Group (PMG), UK pioneers in multi project management software, has acquired Microsoft workflow and collaborative tools specialist, IM Systems Ltd, for an undisclosed sum. The acquisition will boost the workflow and web capabilities of PMG’s Hydra product, further allowing organisations to streamline management of multiple, simultaneous projects using e mail and web based technologies.

Independent research from indicates the UK market for collaborative project management tools is worth £290m in 2001 and Western Europe £1.5Bn. Europe is leading the US in adoption of new methodologies. Research by Collaborative Studies estimates the US market to be worth $750m in 2001.

PMG has enjoyed growth rates exceeding 100% over the last 3 years as more people recognise the failings of traditional project management tools such as Artemis, Niku and Microsoft Project and are replacing them with new programme management and collaborative project management tools.

Under the agreement, effective Jul 2, PMG will provide ongoing support for IMS’ customers. 50% of IMS’ staff are to move immediately to PMG’s Yorkshire HQ.

Nick Amis, founder of IM Systems, has been appointed Senior Consultant at PMG. Nick will work within PMG’s development team to integrate the IM systems technologies with Hydra. The first new product of this collaboration will be demonstrated at the forthcoming Web Enabled Project Management conference to be held in London on September 18th and 19th. Nick will also be responsible for technology strategy, product and partner evaluation for PMG.

PMG and IMS have several common customers, including MPCT Solutions and Standard Chartered Bank.
