Swyx Enters UK Market With First IP Telephony Solutions Friday 6 July 2001 PDF Print German owned IP telephony specialist Swyx Communications has launched a suite of IP telephony products in a bid to corner the lucrative SME market. The SwyxWare range will be sold as an affordable alternative to a traditional PABX, with the added benefits of low cost call charges and sophisticated call management facilities. If an extension is busy, SwyxServer will automatically re-route calls according to user preferences, so that missed calls can be diverted to mailboxes, music on hold or dispatched into an e-mail system for checking from any location. SwyxServer guarantees full compatibility by employing world-wide standards such as H.323 for voice transmission. SwyxServer works in conjunction with SwyxGate, the physical connection between the IP telephony network and the public telephone network. SwyxGate converts incoming calls into IP packets and in turn routes outbound calls over the traditional telephone network. In addition, Swyx offers an IP telephony handset, a handset with hook on / hook off functionality, a headset and the SwyxIt! client that operates on the PC itself.
