Archive for Servers Release 4.0 and Archive for DB2 Release 5.0 Improve Performance, Availability and Reliability of eBusiness and Mission-Critical Applications

Princeton Softech, a subsidiary of Computer Horizons Corp. (Nasdaq: CHRZ), today introduced Archive for Servers™ Release 4.0 and Archive for DB2™ Release 5.0, further establishing its leadership position in the active archiving market. Active archiving can solve application performance problems by moving infrequently used data from production databases and placing it into an ‘active’ archive, where it is easy to research and selectively restore when needed.

“Mission-critical systems require strong doses of ongoing housecleaning if they are to provide sustained competitive advantage,” said Rich Evans, vice president of enterprise data centre strategies for META Group, a leading IT industry analysis firm. “Companies are going to be looking to 'active archiving' solutions to increase the performance of their databases while controlling maintenance and capacity costs.”

“Our customers’ databases are growing at an unprecedented rate, with some doubling, even tripling, in a year’s time,” said president and CEO of Princeton Softech, Lisa Cash. “This growth degrades performance and limits the availability of mission-critical applications - frustrating users, reducing productivity and increasing costs. Since 1999, we’ve been helping customers in OS/390 environments solve this problem with Archive for DB2. With the introduction of Archive for Servers, we are bringing all the power and key features of this mature, proven technology to the client/server world.”

“Archive for Servers enables us to offer a complete end-to-end enterprise active archiving solution,” adds Jim Lee, vice president, product marketing, Princeton Softech. “This industry-leading software supports the Oracle, DB2 UDB, SQL Server, Sybase and Informix database management systems. Now customers will be able to remove data from multiple client/server and OS/390 production databases and store it in one or more active archives, referentially intact and complete.”

Archive for Servers is priced starting at U.S. $50,000 and Archive for DB2 starts at U.S. $85,000. These groundbreaking solutions are particularly well suited for industries that must maintain access to historical data to comply with corporate policy or government regulations including financial services, health care, insurance, manufacturing, utilities and telecommunications.

Princeton Softech delivers customised Active Archiving Workshops to help organisations understand how active archiving will work in their environment and determine exactly which data needs to be archived. These workshops use a proven methodology for analysing relational database management strategies - to measure the potential for improved performance, increased availability and return on investment - based on a company’s selected databases and applications.
