EPRISE EXPANDS OFFERING TO FURTHER STREAMLINE WEB CONTENT DISTRIBUTION FOR GLOBAL ENTERPRISES Monday 16 July 2001 PDF Print Eprise Content Deployment Suite Automates Process of Updating Multiple Servers, Speeds Content Distribution Eprise Corporation (Nasdaq: EPRS), a provider of content management solutions, today announced availability of the Eprise Content Deployment Suite (ECDS). The newest product in the company’s suite of Web content management offerings, ECDS is a content deployment solution that automatically and securely restores and synchronises dynamic content, which has been created and approved from a central Eprise® authoring server, across multiple deployment servers. ECDS enables online businesses to restore, replicate and distribute content globally across a heterogeneous Web site infrastructure for high-speed delivery. The combination of Eprise Participant Server® and ECDS provides a highly scalable, end-to-end solution for enterprise content creation, management and distribution. In an Eprise-managed Web environment, ECDS can be used to replicate content throughout a local server farm to support large load-balanced sites or to duplicate content from a central authoring server to other geographically dispersed Web servers. Additionally, users’ interaction on the site is uninterrupted by updates, as multiple servers can receive new content without being taken offline. By automating content distribution across multiple dispersed servers, organisations can guarantee that global audiences derive maximum value from their sites. Incorporating ECDS into an Eprise-managed Web site minimises IT workload by automating content updates across multiple servers. ECDS enables rules and quality levels to be defined to ensure that content is successfully replicated and staged before updates are published. Babcock Borsig, an international leader in power engineering and shipbuilding, deployed ECDS for its company-wide intranet. The intranet works as a central repository and knowledge base for Babcock’s more than 30,000 employees in offices across the world. Because the re-engineering of the site would require input and content from hundreds of resources, the company needed the Eprise content management solution to streamline the distribution process. Once the information was incorporated into the repository, it then needed to simultaneously reach a number of sites across the continent, making ECDS a natural choice. “Working in a global environment and supporting unique business units, we required a solution that supports content from multiple locations and streamlines the process of delivering information company-wide,” said Günter Peters, who is responsible for e-business strategies and large-scale IT projects at Babcock Borsig. “We tapped Eprise, and specifically ECDS, because it enabled us to easily manage content among our unique business units and share that information across multiple Web sites.” Under the terms of a licensing agreement with Inktomi Corp., Eprise has incorporated technology from the Inktomi® Content Delivery Suite™ software as the foundation for ECDS. ECDS provides the ability to: · Restore, replicate and distribute content globally across a heterogeneous Web site infrastructure; · Perform transactional content deployment so that sites are updated simultaneously for all visitors; · Provide secure, bandwidth-efficient distribution technology that works effectively over Wide Area Networks and Application Service Provider infrastructures. “Eprise Participant Server empowers business users to contribute content directly to corporate Web sites, intranets and extranets. For the global enterprise, you need to maximise that ability by distributing the content effectively,” said Hank Barnes, VP of strategy at Eprise. “The addition of ECDS to our product family strengthens our unique approach to content management, giving customers one unified solution that addresses content creation, deployment and delivery, ensuring consistency across global Web environments.” Pricing and availability ECDS is available immediately from Eprise and will be priced at £50,000 for a package that includes a license for the controller server and licenses for five content deployment agents. Volume pricing, as well as licenses for the content deployment agents alone, are also available.
