Orix Cut Cost of Information Delivery with Esker’s Faxgate Wednesday 25 July 2001 PDF Print Japanese multinational uses Faxgate to connect Dublin offices with mobile users worldwide SHARDLOW, UK – July 25, 2001 - Multinational financial services group Orix have selected Faxgate 7.01 for fully-automated document delivery. The Esker solution answers critical business needs while satisfying stringent technical requirements. Faxgate has been successfully implemented across a global network of mobile and office-based users who now have cost efficient, secure desktop-direct faxing. “We chose Esker because we required 24/7 on-demand faxing in real-time, anywhere in the world”, explains David Fahy, IT Manager of Orix Ireland Limited. “We wanted a fax solution that was cost-effective, easy to install and set Orix on the path to zero-cost faxing.” Orix are especially interested with the least-cost routing feature in Faxgate. “If a user in Tokyo sends a fax to a destination in Ireland,” explains Fahy “it will automatically be routed to our Faxgate server in Dublin. This means transmission costs are charged at local rates, thereby dramatically reducing communications costs.” This project is planned in the near future. Orix needed a secure and reliable solution that integrated seamlessly into their existing environment. “A fundamental requirement for Orix was to introduce a fax solution that was scalable across the networked enterprise and met current business needs and in particular integrated with our Lotus Notes systems”, says Robert Heffernan, IT Systems Supervisor of Orix Ireland Limited. Heffernan project managed the implementation of Faxgate for Orix, including interfacing the solution both with their internal phone network using Brooktrout technology and unified mail faxing from essential web-based applications on their intranet. Esker’s after-sale service also impressed Heffernan, “We found the support not just good, but truly excellent. Every single query was dealt with swiftly. Orix has developed a friendly rapport with Esker support and indeed Esker as a whole.” Orix are planning to install Faxgate as a solution for desktop users and remote users across five continents. Individual users – each of whom was provided with a unique fax number - send faxes directly from their desktop, anytime, anywhere. They receive incoming faxes through Lotus Notes and access them from a single unified mail inbox. “The middleman has been cut out of the fax processing operation, saving the employee’s time and the company’s money,” says Fahy. Faxgate is a key feature of the Orix virtual private network strategy, to be rolled out over the next 12 months in the company’s Dublin, London, Tokyo and New York offices. Servers will be located at geographically strategic locations around the world to fully leverage the savings gained through least-cost-routing. “The overall solution lowers costs while providing a more reliable and more secure channel for business communication,” concludes Fahy. Faxgate was joined in the electronic document delivery market by PULSE in February 2001. Part of Esker’s Intelligent Information Delivery suite, PULSE distributes high-volume information automatically, from any business application to any recipient in the format of their choice: web, mobile phone text messages, e-mail, document files, faxes and more. “PULSE provides our customers all the proven functionality of Faxgate in addition to giving them the option of delivering their business-critical information in a variety of electronic formats,” says Sean Vickery, Managing Director of Esker Software Northern Europe.
