WESTERN DIGITAL RECEIVES CHANNEL CHAMPIONS AWARD FROM COMPUTER RESELLER NEWS FOR EIGHTH TIME Wednesday 25 July 2001 PDF Print Company Rated Highest in Overall Satisfaction For Desktop Hard Drive Category Western Digital Corporation has received Computer Reseller News' (CRN) prestigious "Channel Champions" award for the eighth time. Western Digital scored higher overall than any other hard drive manufacturer included in the survey, ranking No. 1 in four of eight criteria and placing second in the four remaining areas. The Channel Champions award has been conducted by the publication for nine years, and Western Digital is the only manufacturer to have received the top honour every year the desktop hard drive category has been recognised. For the Channel Champions award this year, more than 9,000 phone interviews were conducted between February and April 2001. Solution providers rated vendors, chosen according to CRN staff recommendations and market share data, in 21 product and service categories. Solution providers first considered and rated the relative importance of each criterion, then rated their level of satisfaction with vendors for each. "Our reseller programs, such as SelectWD, were created to maintain the valuable connection between WD and its reseller partners through exclusive toll-free phone support, monthly electronic bulletins and product training," said Arif Shakeel, chief operating officer for Western Digital. "Receiving the important Channel Champions award from Computer Reseller News for the eighth year is a sure sign that we're meeting - and always working to exceed - our commitments to our resellers by providing the highest performance and quality hard drives with the best customer service." With more than 15,000 members, SelectWD provides resellers with exclusive access to a range of services including promotions, product bundles, marketing support, lead-generation activities and tradeshow and conference support. According to CRN, "As today's storage and speed requirements heighten the importance of PC hard drives, Western Digital is leading the way among its peers." Resellers participating in the survey cited Western Digital's high reliability and good technical support as main reasons for using WD products. The eight areas rated for the award included product quality and reliability; product compatibility and scalability; price/performance; profitability; vendor responsiveness; product availability; marketing and sales support; and technical support. An overall satisfaction rating was given in each category by averaging the scores in each area. The award was given to those vendors with the highest average score in each category.
