BLACKWELL PUBLISHERS EXTENDS AGREEMENT WITH TRIDION TO ENHANCE GLOBAL ONLINE OFFERING Friday 27 July 2001 PDF Print Tridion's DialogServer software to broaden Blackwell's web presence with subject-based portals and intranets; local versions of Online Books Review to be launched in August 2001 Tridion, a leading European provider of web content management software, announced today that Blackwell Publishers, the world's largest independent academic publisher of books, journals and educational software, has extended its agreement with the company to broaden its online offerings. The new agreement will allow Blackwell Publishers to purchase site licenses, which will not only enable them to enhance their existing corporate web site but also build several new offerings such as subject-based portals and intranets. Core to the deployment and management of these offerings will be Tridion's DialogServer software, a web content management solution based on XML technology. Mike Fenton, implementation and technology director at Blackwell Publishers, said, "For any organisation looking for a superior web content management solution, two criteria are crucial - open architecture for easy implementation and scalability. In our view, DialogServer is best positioned to meet both these needs and was therefore an obvious choice as our electronic publishing corporate standard." Blackwell Publishers chose Tridion over Vignette late last year to manage its worldwide web presence. The first phase of the project was to create an Online Books Review, where external contributors and authors can track the progress of their submissions via the web. This functionality has now been fully built and will go live in August 2001. "As more and more businesses turn to the web to increase their profitability, they are faced with the task of standardising multiple web sites yet catering to local needs," said Alun Cope-Morgan, UK managing director, Tridion. "DialogServer's 'blueprint' feature is an advanced functionality that automates this process to ensure the highest quality of web content, thus giving organisations the competitive e-marketing edge."
