Infobar becomes a key IT distributor in Israel to serve local VAR needs

Infobar, in Tel Aviv, Israel, has been established today to support local VAR needs. The new distributor will distribute products from Symbol Technologies, leaders in mobile computing, wireless network and bar-code scanning for the vertical markets. Infobar will provide a range of services including business development and technical support. Its business development will focus on breaking into new markets such as RF infrastructure and wireless LAN VoIP with new vertical business partners.

Infobar will help Symbol to further strengthen its ties with Israel. Symbol already has significant presence in the burgeoning Israeli IT market. It currently works with local VARs: Dimex, Dannet (part of Dangot Computers Ltd) and Al-Xon and many smaller resellers via these 3 larger players. Their customers include every major industry from the Israeli Military to all the major manufacturers such as Tnuva and Strauss, as well as the food retailers Supersol and Co-op Blue Square. Symbol sees considerable opportunity in Israel, being a small intense market that is very technically savvy with numerous high-tech firms including many auto ID companies, one of Symbol's target markets.

Jonathan Cohen, CEO, Infobar, says, "Israel is a growing market with a drive towards automation. The cost of living and running a business is similar to the UK, so industries in Israel must become increasingly efficient wherever possible in order to compete and grow. We are delighted that we are able to work with Symbol, who we know is able to provide effective IT solutions to these industries."

Symbol has already provided several successful wireless LAN, mobile computing and bar-code scanning solutions to a variety of Israeli vertical markets through its local VARs:

- Delivery services industry solution to Normat, a coffee delivery services company in Tel Aviv. The solution is expected to revolutionise the industry making way for an estimated revenue increase of 10 per cent per annum by cutting costs, saving time and eliminating wastage

- Israel's Zozobara restaurant in Herzaliya, Israel's Silicon Valley. Symbol has significantly improved customer service, speeding up the ordering process and eliminating the possibility of error via its wireless order taking system

- Strauss Dairies was the first company in EMEA to use wearable computers in their warehouses to dramatically improve productivity and eliminate picking incorrect stock

- Co-op Blue Square and Supersol both use Symbol's wireless solutions throughout their warehouses and retail food stores

- Naharia hospital - Symbol provides life saving healthcare solutions with its RF wireless installations

- Intel's cleanrooms use both Symbol's scanners and RF wireless solutions

Mike Allen, Director Channel Operations, EMEA says, "Symbol is pleased to add Infobar as a new Distributor in Israel. Symbol has channel partners throughout Europe, all providing vital vertical market solutions in retail, manufacturing, transport/logistics, sales automation and in new market areas such as healthcare. A significant proportion of Symbol's revenue, 50 per cent, is derived from its channel partners worldwide. Symbol's success with the channel is mainly been due to its belief in partnerships to deliver customer focused solutions across many industries. It is these distribution partners and VARs who have helped Symbol penetrate the market."
