Opportunity for fans to own a virtual piece of Juventus’ pitch

Turin / London, 2 August 2001: Juventus Football Club and Podia Group plc, the UK AIM-listed sports marketing company, announce the launch of an online interactive game Juventus SkillSquare. The game enables the 49 million Juventus fans around the world the opportunity to own virtual squares of the Stadio Delle Alpi pitch and win prizes when designated incidents occur within their chosen square.

The website can be accessed at

Juventus SkillSquare uses specialist cameras and software to superimpose a virtual grid of over 4000 squares onto the pitch, allowing designated incidents to be identified and grid referenced. Fans win prizes when incidents occur within the square they own. Winning incidents are; goals, goal assists, red and yellow cards and free kicks. Prizes include a day at Juventus football club, signed shirts, footballs and club merchandise.

Fans can purchase as many squares as they like and ownership lasts the duration of the season, the first being the 2001-2002 Serie A. All Juventus home Serie A matches are valid for the Juventus SkillSquare game but Champions League and Coppa Italia matches are not. Squares cost from €100 per season and can be bought from the Juventus SkillSquare website. Fans will receive a personalised certificate signed by Roberto Bettega, Vice Chairman of Juventus. The Juventus SkillSquare website also allows players to check news, developments and whether they are prizewinners.

Romy Gai, Commercial Director at Juventus said; “Juventus SkillSquare is a game created for football fans, and a fun way for all our Juventus followers and particularly our international fans of getting closer to the game and the club. The exclusive signed shirts, footballs and other Juventus merchandise will appeal to all fans.

Commenting on the partnership, Mike Maranta, Special Projects Director at Podia commented; “We are delighted to be able to launch Juventus SkillSquare with one of the biggest sporting clubs in the world and we have been overwhelmed by the initial interest shown by the Juventus fans around the world.”
