www.planetoyster.com built by e-InBusiness opens for Cowes Week Monday 6 August 2001 PDF Print Queens Award winning Yacht Builder opens online Chandlery store e-InBusiness Limited, specialist in transactional e-commerce systems, has built a new online store for PlanetOyster.com Ltd. It went live on 3rd August, to coincide with Cowes Week. PlanetOyster.com is the online yacht chandlery business of Oyster Marine, builders of the world leading range of high specification blue water cruising yachts, and twice winner of the Queens Award for Enterprise. The online store offers the serious yachtsman a choice of over 4,000 products from 56 leading manufacturers: anchors to bilge pumps to clothing, autopilots to boots to charts. Through extensive use of pictures, and online and downloadable specification sheets, every effort has been made to help customers find the right product, easily and quickly. Customers can browse by product ‘type’ or by product ‘brand’, and can search for products using familiar key words. Most products are available in different combinations of size, colour or features. Orders are easy and quick to place, and the customer receives a confirmation email by return. Orders are fulfilled from Oyster's Ipswich base, for both the UK and overseas markets. Working closely with PlanetOyster.com, e-InBusiness designed and built the online store in four months. A critical requirement was that local staff could manage the content of the finished site. While PlanetOyster.com prepared product data, e-InBusiness developed the software and presentation graphics. The site is based upon award-winning INTERSHOP software, securely hosted by e-InBusiness at internet service provider RedNet Communications. Richard Taylor, General Manager of PlanetOyster.com Ltd commented, “It was important for Oyster Marine to maintain its brand image through the PlanetOyster.com website. An Oyster yacht is the Jaguar of the sailing world, so the site had to provide a fast, slick and superior service. This meant spending a long time designing the site, both from the point of view of how the site looked, and how the customer moves around the site. It was crucial for us to have a site that looks great, has everything our clients would wish to buy, and yet is very easy to use. e-InBusiness has helped us to achieve these objectives.” Bob Grindley, Commercial Director at e-InBusiness said, “We are delighted to have worked with PlanetOyster.com. We’ve built many e-commerce sites, and each poses its own challenges: in this case it was product quantity and complexity. Yet INTERSHOP software makes it easier for PlanetOyster.com staff to manage products themselves. We wish them Bon Voyage with their new ‘e’ business!” -ends- Notes to Editors About www.PlanetOyster.com www.planetoyster.com is the online yacht chandlery store owned by Oyster Marine, the world-renowned yacht builder based at Ipswich in the UK and Newport, Rhode Island in the USA.
