SGS Yarsley International Certification Services, passes Westica first time

“Outstanding achievement!” This encouraging comment comes from Westica’s CEO, Chris Burnett, following the company’s success in passing its ISO9001 quality qualification - first time. Westica Ltd, a superior supplier of 1.4GHz digital microwave radio equipment, were recommended in early June, by SGS Yarsley International Certification Services and were officially awarded registration at the beginning of July.

ISO is the International Organisation for Standardisation based in Geneva, Switzerland. It is made up of national standards institutes from countries large and small, industrialised and developing, in all regions of the world. They contribute to making the development, manufacturing and supply of products and services more efficient, safer and cleaner. ISO 9001:1994, the standard Westica adheres to, is a model for quality assurance in design, development, production, installation and servicing. Westica’s work towards qualifying for ISO 9001:2000 by the year 2003, has already begun.

Leslie Dobson, Senior Auditor of SGS Yarsley International Certification Services, explained, “Few companies are as well prepared as Westica and the clarity of their quality manual and operating procedures, plus the capability and enthusiasm of their staff generally, is excellent overall.” The scope of the assessment was confirmed by SGS as, “The design, manufacture and supply of digital communication systems, including implementation of networks and support for associated products including elements of design and manufacture that may be subcontracted.”

“We are evidently delighted with this accomplishment.” explains Chris Burnett, “Passing the ISO 9001 is an achievement in itself, but we at Westica qualified with flying colours – first time! This is a result of our fantastic teamwork here at Westica and the commitment of our staff. Our newly achieved qualification will help us immensely when dealing with, and retaining, our demanding blue-chip customer base.”
