Mobile sales and service staff are in line for new high speed, mobile
customer relationship management (CRM) technology following news that
Point Information Systems, Europe's leading e-CRM vendor, has joined
forces with Irish mobile network operator Eircell, a member of the
Vodafone Group.


The partnership combines e-point, Point's advanced customer
relationship management system, with Eircell's High Speed Network to
give mobile staff practically instant access to customer records via
PDAs, laptops or mobile phones.


e-point's thin client architecture means that staff on the move can
share exactly the same information as their colleagues in the call
centre, branch distribution network or those working in back office
and warehouse environments. By using Eircell's High Speed Network they
can do so up to three times faster than before, easily matching the
speed of the fastest dial-up desktop modems.


Ms. Roisin Kehoe, Partnership Programme Manager, Eircell, said: "By

Systems, we can offer this innovative wireless CRM solution which
allows Point's customers to work remotely with high speed access to
customer information. It enables companies to integrate mobile data

According to Aberdeen Group Inc., a Boston-based IT market analysis
firm, Europe currently holds a 12-month lead over the United States
when it comes to integrating mobile technologies into customer
relationship management applications. The new Point/Eircell solution
is likely to play a leading part in maintaining that lead.

Enabling mobile employees to access a complete, unified view of a
customer's interaction with the company brings several benefits. While
a sales representative is still in a meeting with the customer,
integrated workflow in e-point can be executing the order fulfillment
process. Escalating activity through the correct channels of the
organisation ensures speedy distribution of the product with
confirmation of the order issued by fax, e-mail or SMS. This immediate
input of data while on-site improves the response time to the customer
and avoids bottlenecks in the distribution line.

Linda McNulty, business development manager with Point in Ireland,
