IBM today announced that eServer x232, x330 and x342 are now available with the new Intel Pentium III-S processors with 512K cache and a speed of 1.26 Ghz9, creating the most powerful line of 2-way business application servers in the industry. In addition, these servers feature self-diagnosing and self-healing technologies from IBM's Project eLiza initiative, an ongoing program aimed at creating a world of self-managing systems and technologies that enhance performance.

Featured in the IBM eServer x232, x330 and x342 is IBM Director, a system management program with Project eLiza technologies including Predictive Failure Analysis and Software Rejuvenation. Predictive Failure Analysis enables a server to self-diagnose any potential problem and then alert IT staff so that they can avoid a potential server crash, while Software Rejuvenation automatically predicts and repairs software problems before they occur.

"The increased processing power combined with the benefits of Project eLiza technologies will allow customers to streamline the management of their networks," said Jeff Benck, Product Marketing Director, IBM eServer xSeries. "IBM Director, with its self-diagnosing and self-healing features, is designed to provide a level of server availability to customers that is second to none."

As the industry's most powerful 1U server, IBM's eServer x330 offers high-availability, robust systems management and ease of use for businesses who need maximum server density. IBM eServer x342 provides consistent high-performance in the face of heavy fluctuating workloads for medium and larger enterprises. It also offers high availability features in a compact U rack design for space constrained environments. For businesses searching or a powerful low-cost general-purpose system that can be easily deployed n minutes, the eServer x232 is able to perform a wide-variety of business applications, including financial, file-and-print serving, e-mail, messaging and Internet access.

With native support for either Linux or Microsoft Windows, as well as support for additional operating systems, the eServer x232, x330 and x342 give customers the flexibility to choose their operating systems and applications that best meet their needs.

The new eServer models are designed to make high availability and business critical reliability affordable for the smallest business.
