Businesses to see new opportunities for profit as e-commerce application vendors secure their applications with Identrus Internet trust capabilities
Identrus LLC, the universal standard for Internet trust, today announced the "Identrus Ready" and "Identrus Compliant" programs to help financial institutions and businesses easily find products that advance their business-to-business e-commerce initiatives. More than 100 companies have signed up to participate in the programs. And virtually every major Internet security company - including IBM, ValiCert, VeriSign, Entrust, Baltimore Technologies and RSA Security - today has a product certified as Identrus Compliant.
As part of the Identrus system, certified products will help trading partners for the first time conclusively identify counterparts on the Internet, ensure communications are private and compile auditable records of their transactions. Vendors with a certified product earn the right to use special Identrus Compliant or Identrus Ready logos that distinguish the product and signify it works seamlessly in the Identrus system. Certified products will also be listed on the Identrus Web site (www.identrus.com).
IBM Global Services, a leader in helping companies implement Identrus infrastructure and launch Identrus enabled services, today begins testing for the Identrus Ready certification using a protocol and tool developed by Internet security company ValiCert Inc. Some of the Trusted IDs for the Identrus Ready testing program are being supplied by a Baltimore Technologies Identrus Compliant PKI infrastructure. This infrastructure is already deployed in the IBM Identrus certified lab in Gaithersburg, MD. IBM's global PKI Centre of Competency is the only Identrus Ready compliance testing facility in the marketplace.
Identrus Ready certification, for a wide range of business-to-business applications, means e-commerce applications recognise Identrus Global IDs, accept Identrus digital signatures, and automatically verify whether Identrus Global IDs are valid. Products lined up for Ready certification include e-marketplace platforms, Web servers, operating systems, document management systems, middleware, procurement packages, billing software and B2B integration software.
"For more than five years IBM has provided customers the most comprehensive Internet security programs in the marketplace," said Mike Bilger, global executive, privacy and security, IBM Global Services. "Identrus Ready and Identrus Compliant are significant new steps in building the trust our customers require for advanced e-business."
"The solution Identrus has developed for its member financial institutions provides a high level of trust and security that is critical for business-to-business transactions," said Yosi Amram, president and chief executive officer of ValiCert. "Identrus' infrastructure solutions and our family of products are key components for secure and paperless e-business."
Compliant infrastructure products gain certification
Identrus today certified several leading security products under the second new designation, Identrus Compliant. This certification means security infrastructure components successfully interoperate in the Identrus system. These products will be used by Identrus member financial institutions to build their Identrus production public key infrastructure (PKI) systems. Certified products include certificate authorities, hardware security modules, online certificate status protocol (OCSP) responders, smart card subsystems, digital signature messaging software (DSMS) and transaction co-ordinators.
"Identrus Compliant and Identrus Ready products will help Identrus member financial institutions and other businesses to find the technology they need to safely participate in business-to-business commerce on the Internet," said Guy S. Tallent, Identrus president and CEO. "Certification will help technology vendors prove their Identrus infrastructure components and application software have been tested in an Identrus production environment and will interoperate with any Identrus Global ID in the world. We've taken great pains to ensure that Identrus Compliant and Identrus Ready products possess the same deep level of trust that our Identrus Global IDs do."
