Viruses and computer hackers cost businesses around the world billions each year. According to Computer Economics, a Californian research company that keeps a tally of computer viruses, the economic damage caused by Code Red I and II has risen to nearly $2 billion, up from last week’s estimated $1.2 billion. It is estimated that the final cost could top the £8.7 billion in estimated damages from last year’s Love Bug virus.
