Available now for Microsoft ® Windows, Hewlett Packard's HP-UX® and Linux

SUNNYVALE, California -(BUSINESS WIRE) August 20, 2001-Macrovision Corporation (NASDAQ: MVSN), a world leader in Digital Rights Management technologies, announced today that its GLOBEtrotter Software Division has completed the development of FLEXlm for three major operating systems, which support Intel's Itanium® Processor Family. All three products are available for immediate delivery to independent software vendors (ISVs) worldwide.

Targeted at the most demanding enterprise and high-performance computing applications, the Itanium processor is the first in a family of 64-bit products from Intel. The Itanium processor's Explicitly Parallel Instruction Computing (EPIC) design enables breakthrough capabilities in processing terabytes of data, speeding protected online purchases and transactions, and processing complex computations.

These features address the growing needs for data communications, storage, analysis and security while providing performance, scalability and reliability advantages at significantly lower costs than proprietary offerings. Application segments include large databases, data-mining, e-Commerce security transactions and mechanical computer-aided engineering, as well as high-performance and scientific computing. Compaq Computer Corporation (NYSE: CPQ) and Intel Corporation recently announced a multi-year agreement to accelerate the availability of next-generation enterprise servers based on the Itanium processor family. Compaq will transfer key enterprise processor technology to Intel and consolidate its entire 64-bit server family on the Itanium architecture.

"The availability of GLOBEtrotter's FLEXlm on Itanium will enable software developers to offer comprehensive electronic licensing options to end users," said Diane Wortsmann, marketing manager, Intel Platform Enabling Group. "Electronic License Management is important for deployment of leading software applications, and Intel Itanium-based platforms provide the performance and scalability that these applications require."

"FLEXlm is the center of the Electronic Licensing ecosystem for more than 2000 ISVs worldwide," added GLOBEtrotter's senior vice president and general manager, Mark Belinsky, "and support for Intel's Itanium processor family is a logical next step for many of these vendors. We are pleased to be working with Intel to help speed the adoption of this new architecture by releasing FLEXlm to our worldwide customer base."

FLEXlm is the industry's de facto standard Electronic Licensing technology that improves the profitability of software businesses by:

· Reducing unlicensed use

· Helping customers comply with applicable license terms

· Improving the effectiveness of software evaluations programs

FLEXlm improves customer satisfaction by allowing software vendors to offer customers licensing terms that best match customer business requirements.
