SAS Institute, the market leader in analytical CRM and data warehousing, today announced the appointment of Jason Goodwin as CRM Programme Manager for SAS UK. Previously an associate director for Plaut Consulting, heading up the CRM and business intelligence practice, Goodwin is responsible for the CRM programme across all industry sectors for the UK and Ireland.

Goodwin brings more than 14 years experience in both the public and private sector to SAS. His focus for the past five years has been in the CRM/ business intelligence field. Whilst at Plaut Consulting, Goodwin's responsibilities included strategic consulting for ebusiness and CRM clients. Prior to Plaut Consulting, Goodwin worked for Siemens Business Services as a senior consultant responsible for the ebusiness and CRM team.

At SAS, Goodwin will spearhead the adoption of the recently launched Enterprise Marketing Automation (EMA) suite of software and work closely to tailor these solutions for each vertical sector. He will also focus on the customer issues affecting businesses such as data protection and data privacy, integration of customer information and customer profiling and personalisation. Goodwin will replace Peter Dorrington, who has taken up the post of business solutions marketing manager, SAS UK.

"My remit at SAS is to work closely with the vertical sales teams and the alliances team to define the strategic direction of SAS in the CRM marketplace, " said Goodwin. "Now, more than ever, organisations need real insights into who their customers are and how to please them. SAS' CRM solutions provide the vision to make understanding customers not only an attainable goal, but a sustainable competitive advantage and this will be my key focus over the coming months."

Phil Bond, managing director of SAS added, "To succeed in today's business climate, companies must invest in an intelligence layer that sits on top of their existing operational structure if they are to capitalise on their IT investments. That's where SAS comes in. We deliver the intelligence needed to make all that data they've collected on their customers meaningful and profitable. Jason has a huge amount of valuable experience in this area, which will be a great asset in growing our share of this market".
