Dial up, Log on, Get working! NetSupport PC-Duo version 6.11 aims at global increases in teleworking Friday 14 September 2001 PDF Print Vector Networks announces update for PC-Duo that delivers significantly improved performance over dial-up lines. Tamworth, UK - 11th September 2001 - PC-Duo V6.11 is a mid-term release, which offers significant improvements to speed and resilience over slow speed links through its enhanced CAPI/TAPI interfaces. The development team at Vector Networks has acted on feedback from customers who are finding it ever more important to provide stable and efficient support to growing numbers of teleworkers. These enhancements are important to the global market for teleworker support, an increasingly important task for a large segment of PC-Duo’s customer base. In addition, compatibility with Windows 2000 has been enhanced with the inclusion of a remote screen blanking function, an important consideration when using a remote system for sensitive work, or for when it is desirable to prevent desktop users studying how helpdesk technicians analyse and fix their systems. Communication from the user desktop to the help desk has also been enhanced in order to improve the user/technician relationship. For example, when rolling PC-Duo out through its remote silent install, the customer can generate a ‘Request Help’ shortcut on the desktop that provides a point and click means for users to ask for help. Previously, to call for help, the user would have to double-click the PC-Duo Client icon in the System Tray and then make a number of menu selections. This simple improvement has made a big difference to a feature, which demands to be as simple as possible to use. Version 6.11 includes a number of other enhancements. The first deals with compatibility with the latest version of Windows 2000 Terminal Server, which previously meant that a change to Terminal Server in the W2K implementation could lead to the PC-Duo Client service being disabled. Secondly, an issue with Vmware’s SuperVGA driver has also been eliminated. Colin Bartram, Product Marketing Director at Vector Networks explains: “Mid-term releases are an ideal way to deliver significant enhancements to our customers between major releases. The improvements we have added for our dial-up customers alone were reason enough not to wait until the next full upgrade. This reflects Vector’s commitment to keeping PC-Duo at the forefront of an increasingly sophisticated and demanding market”.
