ANTWERP, AMSTERDAM - September 12, 2001 - KM-Informer (, the first Web-based publication that is free of copyright, asks readers for their information needs with regards to the new topic of expertise management that is covered in a series of articles.

"Readers will be capable to 'drive' the content provided on this new component of the knowledge management toolbox," says Erik Vlietinck, the publisher of KM-Informer. "It is an attempt to build interactivity into the delivery of content prior to actually writing the series. Other content providers have readers comment on their content but will not gather and assemble the information the readers know they want in advance," he says.

In order to make their desires and needs known to the editor, readers are invited to post their ideas, opinions, questions and needs on a specially installed forum where they can!
freely give their directions. Based on the ideas and views of the readers, the series will be completed.

If no ideas or views have been posted within a fortnight, the publisher will start writing without the additional input. Posting questions and ideas requires a registration on the forum. Viewing and browsing the comments requires no prior registration.

"People want interactive content tailored to their needs. You can't deliver that by having them voting for or against an article, or by letting them comment on your content and then carry on as if nothing had happened," says Vlietinck. "The KM-Informer idea is to give to people what they want and need and thus avoid information overload altogether."
