IBM TO OFFER KEYNOTE'S WEB-SITE PERFORMANCE MEASUREMENT SERVICE TO ITS WEB-HOSTING AND e-BUSINESS CUSTOMERS IN EUROPE Thursday 20 September 2001 PDF Print Allows Businesses to See Web Performance Through the Eyes of End Users 20 September 2001 IBM has announced that it will offer the Keynote Perspective product line for Web-site performance measurement from Keynote Systems to IBM's e-business Hosting customers in Europe. As a first step, IBM will make Keynote services available to its customers in the United Kingdom, Denmark, France and Germany, with other countries to follow soon after. This agreement represents an extension of a similar contract in the United States. IBM, the global leader in e-business, directly manages more than 50,000 servers in 230 data centers worldwide. Its hosting customers include companies, such as the European automobile manufacturer FIAT and the National Basketball Association, www.nba.com. Since 1995, IBM has been a leader in helping the world's most prominent organisations and events to host award-winning and record-breaking e-business Web sites. Among these events are the four tennis Grand Slams (Australian Open, Roland Garros/French Open, Wimbledon Championships and the U.S. Open), the PGA Championships and GRAMMY Awards. IBM has been successfully using Keynote's service for its own Web site since 1996, and last year used it to optimise the Web site for the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games. For many of IBM's customers, Keynote Perspective Performance Monitoring Services will introduce an entirely new strategy for analysing Web-site performance. Keynote Perspective agents measure the responsiveness of the customers' web sites from selected locations in Europe and worldwide through different independent backbone providers. This geographically and logically distributed measurement not only allows e-businesses to measure, assure and improve the performance of their Web sites, but reveals how individual sites stack up against their competitors in quality of service. Based on the measurements provided by Keynote, IBM will be able to help e-businesses rapidly identify and correct performance problems to ensure the best possible experience for their customers on the Web and to avoid performance bottlenecks and outages. The information provided by Keynote will enable IBM to enhance its quality of Web consulting and thus meet customer expectations, thereby complementing IBM's own in-house monitoring services. Malcolm Carter, Director, E-business Hosting Services, said: "As our customers face increasing competition on the Web, quality of service is more critical than ever before. Keynote Perspective will be a valuable addition to the unparalleled array of services we already offer for e-business Hosting." - ends - Notes to the Editor: About IBM IBM Global Services is the world's largest information technology services provider, with 2000 revenues of more than $33 billion.
