Anny Way Mobile Data Server based on Microsoft Mobile Information 2001 Server Monday 24 September 2001 PDF Print MATERNA and Microsoft co-operate to deliver Mobile WAP and SMS solution High Wycombe, 24. September, 2001. - MATERNA Communications and Microsoft have developed a solution enabling wireless access to secure corporate Intranet information. The Anny Way Mobile Data Server supports specific functions of Microsoft Mobile Information 2001 Server (MMIS) enabling users to access their company Intranet or the Internet using a PDA (Personal Digital Assistant) or via their mobile phone through a secure connection. MMIS is part of the future development of MATERNA’s value-added mobile services. Through provision of this service MATERNA aims to both extend its portfolio and position itself as a leading wireless Application Service Provider (wASP). MATERNA and Microsoft have a history of co-operation on previous projects. The current project combines the features of Anny Way Mobile Data Server and Anny Way Information Center - MATERNA's computer center for mobile value-added services - with the ability to mobilise enterprise Exchange Personal Information Management (PIM) providing a complete mobile Internet and intranet solution. MATERNA's Anny Way solutions combined with interfaces designed and specifically optimised for use with MMIS represent an end-to-end solution for Windows based backend systems. Michael Ohajuru, MATERNA’s Sales and Marketing Director says, “ The Anny Way Mobile Data server offers real mobility and freedom to users as it gives secure device independent access to LAN based applications from a PC, a PDA or a mobile phone. The user is free to select the most appropriate access device - PC, PDA or mobile phone to obtain corporate LAN base information – anytime, anywhere and any device” Interplay: the secret of success Using Microsoft Mobile Information 2001 Server, mobile employees can gain real anytime, anyplace access to their inbox, calendar, contacts and tasks, as well as their company intranet and line of business applications. Anny Way Mobile Data Server for Windows 2000 from MATERNA provides the basis for this, thereby making Intranet access much easier. It uses the company user database so that users can call up the same applications that they would use at their desktop via their domain accounts without having to repeatedly enter their passwords. Clicking on a hyperlink or a bookmark takes the user to the Microsoft Exchange inbox and after a few seconds the contents can be viewed on-screen. If a user prefers to enter his or her password manually before gaining access, then this can easily be configured in the Anny Way Mobile Data Server. A Virtual Private Network connection (VPN) ensures secure data transfer to the Anny Way Information Center. Sending intelligent SMS messages The Anny Way MIS Connector is another user-friendly service from MATERNA. This component, which can be connected to MIS Add-On, collects e-mail notifications and delivers them to the Anny Way Information Center, which then sends a SMS (Short Message Service) notification directly to a mobile phone or phone enabled Pocket PC. MIS Connector tracks the sending of the SMS messages in order to stay up-to-date on all SMS communication. The mobile phone user is therefore aware of all costs. Version 2.0 features a Push and Alert Framework that makes it possible for the user to respond immediately when a SMS messages is received. A supplementary Software Development Kit offers the basis for individual and customer-specific solutions to be developed in the common programming languages.
