MATERNA launches Mobility Box for the mobile employee Tuesday 25 September 2001 PDF Print Stand D14b, Mobile Commerce World 2001 www.annyway.com MATERNA launches Mobility Box MATERNA and HP develop concept for corporate mobile solution Mobile Commerce World, LONDON, UK – 25th September - MATERNA Information & Communications, together with Hewlett-Packard, have developed the Anny Way Mobility Box, an integrated solution designed to allow companies to deliver applications such as Microsoft Exchange to mobile data services. Users can use the Mobility Box to access information hosted on company servers at any time and from anywhere via SMS and WAP. With the availability of the Mobility Box, MATERNA is strengthening its position as a wASP (Wireless Application Service Provider). Michael Ohajuru, Sales and Marketing Director at MATERNA, explains: "The Anny Way Mobility Box does just what it says on the box. It provides offers real mobility and freedom to users with secure access to the same applications they use when they are at their desks in the office." Ohajuru continues: "This is another example of how MATERNA is working with market leaders like Hewlett-Packard to allow mobile users to access the applications they need to get their job done, wherever and whenever they need them." HP manufactures the hardware for the Mobility Box while MATERNA provides the necessary software and manages the connections to the appropriate GSM networks. This partnership between HP and MATERNA offers companies a low-cost method of mobilising company data. The two partners launched a pilot project in early summer this year with the intention of selling the Anny Way Mobility Box through the HP sales channels this autumn. The Anny Way Mobility Box connects a company to MATERNA's mobile service infrastructure, thereby allowing mobile users to access their company's own network. The integrated software module provides a "single point of access“, allowing a company to send SMS- and WAP-based information via many international mobile phone networks. The Anny Way Mobility Box allows a company to extend the already familiar functionality of Microsoft Outlook such as tasks, diary and contacts to mobile users, with the mini-server transmitting e-mails as SMS messages and vice versa. The mobile ‘phone user can receive messages and then respond to them instantly. Travelling sales staff can easily download full-length e-mails using their mobile ‘phones, no longer having to be satisfied with receiving the subject-line alone. External and internal staff can use the Mobility Box to plan and agree their appointments. For example, an employee wishing to make an appointment with their manager would send a meeting request via SMS. The manager, just on their way to the airport to meet an important client, could accept and confirm the appointment request instantly by return SMS after checking their own calendar in Microsoft Outlook. The Mobility Box includes The Anny Way WAP Gateway for Windows 2000, providing the perfect complement to the SMS based service, supporting more sophisticated mobile communications. The VPN connection with the Anny Way Information Center ensures security when transferring data between the mobile handset and Intranet. The Mobility Box has been developed as a plug-and-play solution and will be available for various sizes of company. Competitive pricing will make the Mobility Box particularly interesting to medium-sized companies. Pricing and availability The Mobility Box is available immediately. Pricing starts at £1,200 for a 10-client system.
