Mobile operators and end users to benefit from: New wireless protocol between client and server, Clientless solution, Unix-based platform.

London - 26 September 2001 -, a leading mobile Internet software provider, today announced a radical expansion of its product portfolio. The existing client/server solution has been enhanced through the addition of Adaptive Transfer Protocold (ATP), a revolutionary new wireless protocol. In addition, mobile operators can now benefit from a clientless version of the BlueKite software, enabling faster deployment to the end user. Finally, BlueKite has migrated its existing NT platform to Unix. Mobile operators and their customers can now benefit from a high performance software platform to meet their mobile Internet needs.

Developed by BlueKite, ATP is specifically designed to overcome existing limitations on mobile networks by reducing latency, a major cause of slow download speeds. ATP provides a more robust data connection on wireless networks and therefore significantly improves the end user's web browsing experience. Combined with ATP, BlueKite's bandwidth optimisation software forms a mobile software platform that delivers a wireless Web browsing experience equivalent to a fixed-line connection.

The addition of a clientless (i.e server-only) solution to BlueKite's product portfolio will help stimulate the development of the mobile Internet market by providing operators with a fast and cost-effective means of enhancing wireless Web browsing. With an integrated product portfolio of client/server and/or server only, operators can launch their services with the clientless solution, but also have the ability to upgrade to a higher performance client server solution as the market develops. As well as being easier to deploy and requiring less customer support, the server-only solution can be used on all mobile computing operating systems with a standard HTTP browser. Therefore, users of devices with operating systems such as the Palm OS and Nokia 9210 will now also be able to benefit from BlueKite's software when accessing the mobile Internet.

In further meeting the demands of mobile operators, BlueKite's software is now also compatible with Unix platforms, in addition to its existing NT capabilities. Unix is fast becoming the industry-standard as a result of its security abilities and common use among operators and ISPs. In adapting its technology to fit with Unix, BlueKite is opening its software up to a much broader range of robust and scaleable servers.

Robin Abrams, president and CEO of BlueKite, said: "Today's product enhancements demonstrate BlueKite's commitment to the wireless marketplace and the needs of its customers. The growing demand for high quality and high speed mobile Internet services means that operators will need flexible solutions to effectively meet this demand. BlueKite is now in a position to offer what is by far the most flexible software package for content optimisation in the industry."

Mobile professionals and consumers are already benefiting from high speed mobile Internet access through BlueKite's partnership with leading operators, peripherals and device manufacturers, including BT Cellnet, Sprint PCS, OmniSky, Sierra Wireless, SAGEM and Mitsubishi Trium. To further accelerate the adoption of the mobile Internet, BlueKite is currently offering users the opportunity to download its software for a free 30 day trial period.
