Komyagin Named Among Top 100 IT Executives in Russia

Symbol Technologies, global leader in wireless mobile computing and bar code data capture, has appointed Sergey Komyagin as Regional Director, Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), with effect from Oct. 1, 2001. The CIS is an alliance of 12 of the 15 former Republics of the Soviet Union, specifically Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldava, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Ukraine, and Uzbekistan. Symbol is targeting this geographical area as a significant growth opportunity in the nearest future.

Ranked amongst Russia's top 100 IT professionals, Sergey has a wealth of industry knowledge and channel experience, gained over the last 12 years. Based in Moscow, Sergey will work with Symbol's Business Partners and market influencers to develop and implement an aggressive business development plan with particular focus on Russia.

Prior to this, Sergey joined IBM as Business Partner Organisation manager in 1998 to establish and develop IBM's Business Partner organisation throughout the CIS. He was most recently responsible for the overall management of all IBM business in the CIS outside Russia.

Prior to IBM, Sergey worked with Madge Networks between 1996 and 1997, and Seagate Technologies between 1997 and 1998, in both cases in the position of Country Manager CIS. Before this, Sergey worked with IBM between 1991 and 1996, initially as a systems engineer, and moved quickly to in a software management.

Sergey graduated with a degree in Automation and Electronics at the Moscow Engineering Physics Institute in 1988.
