- Integration of Microsoft Technologies with Opsware Provides Loudcloud
Customers

- More Flexibility for Cost-Effective and Reliable Web Operations

London 4 October, 2001, Loudcloud, Inc., (NASDAQ: LDCL), the leading managed
services provider, today announced additional support for a broad range of
Microsoft Corp. (NASDAQ: MSFT) products as part of its complete managed Web
hosting services. With this announcement, Loudcloud strengthens its
commitment to providing enterprise customers with a variety of Microsoft
products, and the expertise to leverage those products.

Loudcloud customers can choose Microsoft products as a key component of
Loudcloud services. The added products and support will provide Loudcloud
customers with the flexibility they need to integrate their applications,
and their partners' applications, through XML Web services, and the agility
to adapt to changing business requirements. The newly supported Microsoft
products will be able to leverage Loudcloud's proprietary Opsware(tm)
automation technology, the foundation of Loudcloud's services.

"Managed hosting solutions need to be flexible so that customers with
diversity in platforms can make better use of them," said Bill Martorelli,
vice president of e-Sourcing and Strategies at Hurwitz Group. "Loudcloud's
broadened support of the Microsoft platform is the company's latest step in
making the Loudcloud services more attractive to a wider range of
customers."

The Microsoft .NET Enterprise Servers and the Windows 2000 Server family
make up the Microsoft .NET's server infrastructure for deploying, managing,
and orchestrating XML Web services. These technologies have been tested and
certified by Loudcloud Research and can be supported with the highest level
of service Loudcloud provides. Today's announcement includes support for the
following .NET Enterprise Servers:

* Application Center 2000 - Deploys and monitors highly-available and
scalable Web applications

* BizTalk(tm) Server 2000 - Builds XML-based business processes across
applications and organizations

* Commerce Server 2000 - Designed to quickly build scalable e-commerce
solutions

* Exchange 2000 Server - Enables messaging and collaboration

* SQL Server(tm) 2000 - Stores, retrieves, and analyzes structured XML
data

Loudcloud's expanded support also includes Microsoft Windows 2000 and these
specific features:

* Microsoft Active Directory service - Applies standardized business
rules to distributed applications and network resources, without maintaining
a variety of specialized directories

* Microsoft Message Queuing (MSMQ) - Enables applications running at
different times to communicate across heterogeneous networks and systems
that may be offline

By incorporating support for the new Microsoft technologies into Loudcloud's
Opsware technology, Loudcloud can quickly provision, scale, and manage
Microsoft's .NET Enterprise Servers on behalf of customers. Loudcloud's
Opsware technology is designed to help enhance the reliability, overall
quality and performance of a customer's Internet site. In addition to the
Opsware provisioning and change management capabilities, Opsware technology
quickly and consistently deploys "patches," typically required to maintain
site security as technology evolves. Opsware automation technology also
maintains a blueprint of each customer's site so critical assets are safe,
thereby enabling Loudcloud to quickly rebuild a customer's site in case of
disaster.

"By extending our support for Microsoft .Net technologies, our growing
enterprise customers base will benefit as Opsware is designed to
automatically deploy the latest Microsoft applications, upgrades, and
security patches," said Ray Suorsa, vice president and chief architect at
Loudcloud. "The result is a higher quality, consistent managed hosting
service that provides a cost effective way for enterprises to outsource the
management of their Internet site."
