"Wander" is First Forwardable "Freesense" Sonified Email

Bracknell, UK, 4 October 2001 - SSEYO®, world leader in software platforms for wireless interactive audio, announces today a forwardable, embedded email composition by Brian Eno, producer of many U2 albums and acclaimed music pioneer. This is released as a Freesense sonified email, which includes a musical work actually embedded within the html email. With his composition "Wander", Eno has created the world's first Freesense Sonified Email to be released by a major artist.

Eno's composition is in the increasingly popular text-based Koan Vector Audio (KVA) format. It is actually embedded in the html email itself, and will play as soon as the email is opened, whether or not the user is online when reading the email. The listener requires the soundcard independent SSEYO Koan Plugin 8.20 to hear the composition. This is available in both Windows and Mac versions for free download from the SSEYO website.

About the release Eno said "The Freesense sonified email is a clever idea - and it works. The fact that the audio content is actually embedded in the Freesense as a text-based Koan Audio Vector makes it completely portable and easily forwardable. Email is known to be the most successful application for the Internet, and this development will facilitate any number of email audio applications."

The Koan Vector Audio (KVA) format generates quality non-voice audio from as little as 10 characters of text. Koan Vector Audio is an open text format that includes note information, musical rules and complete sound descriptions - no audio samples are required. A typical rich, unique sound is only 1 SMS in size, which is around 160 characters. A complete music track including sound descriptions typically ranges from 500 bytes to 5 Kb.

Koan Vector Audio can be embedded within html emails using standard HTML OBJECT and EMBED statements. This, for the first time, facilitates emails with truly embedded audio content yet with no requirement for javascript. As Koan Vector Audio can be used to deliver an infinite range of sounds and music, applications abound for use in promotions, branding, advertising and sponsorship.
