Skanska Chooses Citrix® MetaFrame XP(tm)e Software to Deliver Financial Applications to 1100 Users Thursday 4 October 2001 PDF Print Leading construction company will also increase efficiency at building sites with Citrix Application Serving and Portal Software 4 October 2001 - Citrix Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq: CTXS) today announced that leading Swedish construction company Skanska will implement a portal solution based on Citrix® MetaFrame XP(tm)e software, the company's most powerful application serving and management solution, and Citrix NFuse(tm) application portal software, to provide application access to 1100 users. The Citrix implementation is part of Skanska's strategic initiative to integrate the financial systems of its subsidiaries in Denmark, England, Finland, Norway, Sweden and the U.S. with each other. Skanska will use Citrix MetaFrame XPe to provide easy access to the financial system Hyperion, which is used by accounting personnel to integrate financial information from Skanska's subsidiaries. In addition, construction crews will be able to use Citrix MetaFrame XPe to access the company's Web-based project database, which is a custom application where all information relating to Skanska's construction projects is stored. Microsoft® Outlook will also be delivered to employees using Citrix. These applications will be centrally managed on Citrix MetaFrame XP servers and deployed over WAN connections, enabling Skanska to reap the benefits of Citrix advanced management capabilities while extending the reach of its applications to construction and project sites in Denmark, England, Finland, Norway, Sweden and the U.S. "Citrix products play a big role giving our employees quick access to business-critical information," says Torsten Alvelid, Chief of IT Infrastructure, Skanska. "Most of our employees don't sit at a desk; instead, they spend most of their time on construction sites around the world. Therefore, we wanted a solution that allows our staff to easily access applications and information regardless of which site or office they are working from. This capability is provided to us by Citrix software, which is enabling us to achieve an environment where users don't have to have a computer of their own, but instead can access their information and files from a shared device." Previously, Skanska did not have the ability to integrate information from their different companies. As a result, all information had to be entered twice - first in the local company's system and then in Skanska's main system, which was very time-consuming. "Skanska's selection of Citrix MetaFrame and Citrix NFuse demonstrates the flexibility of our application serving solutions. Citrix allows companies with unique information delivery situations - such as workers on construction sites - to provide fast, easy access to applications wherever they are needed," commented David Jones, Citrix senior vice president of marketing and corporate development.
