October 2001 Invensys Powerware Division has announced a consolidation initiative to build one global identity for its two UPS brands, Powerware and Best Power. Under the new initiative all UPS products from both ranges will carry the Powerware name. The consolidation process, which has already begun, will take place in strategic phases with completion anticipated next year.

Jorma Mannekoski, product marketing director, EMEA, commented, "As we prepare to develop through the 21st century, the consistency of one UPS brand, a common product line and one operation model will enhance the product offering to our customers, enhance the performance of our R&D department, and create more effective sales and marketing resources.

Best Power has built a strong presence in the mid-to-low power protection markets. Powerware offers leading power management and protection solutions for enterprise-wide applications. Together, under the Powerware brand, they form the broadest, most technically advanced powerhouse in the UPS industry, with world-class products ranging from 250 VA to more than 4,000 kVA.

Daniel Pujol, vice president, EMEA commented "Building a one UPS brand identity is a natural outgrowth of Invensys Powerware Division responding to the needs of the marketplace. As our customers migrate more and more of their day-to-day business processes on to the net, and move increasing proportions of their revenues via the net, so the potential cost of a single power-outage grows from hundreds to thousands to millions of dollars. They now – and ever

increasingly so - require the complete protection against power problems that we offer. Our move to brand uniformity and standardisation of products and processes will make us stronger and more focused, and enhance returns to our shareholders. It will allow us to serve our customers better by offering a brand with greater technological superiority in its products, all the way from standalone Series 3 devices to the Series 9 UPSs with its ability to thwart all nine of the most common power problems facing the modern world ”

He continued/added “The consolidation initiative will bring many advantages to Invensys Powerware and its customers. By combining the strengths, talents and resources of two global uninterruptible power systems leaders with 53 technology patents, 28 global industry awards, and expertise in all key market segments, Powerware provides a new dimension of reliability, expertise and service”.
