Leading reseller to move to Web-based application access with Citrix
application serving

8 October 2001 - Citrix Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq: CTXS) today announced that
Esteem Systems plc, a Platinum member of the Citrix Solutions Network(tm)
(CSN) channel program, has implemented an application server computing
solution based on Citrix® MetaFrame® for Solaris software and Sun Ray(tm)
appliances from Sun Microsystems. The Citrix implementation is part of
Esteem's strategic plan to design a complete IT architecture based on its
suppliers' technologies and is an extension to its Windows 2000 and
MetaFrame server farm.

Esteem has more than 100 employees across four offices in Leeds, Manchester,
Bristol and Amersham. The company is using Citrix MetaFrame for Solaris to
deploy Unix applications to these workers from a central server farm; as
well as MetaFrame for Windows to deploy office productivity applications.
Employees access the application on Sun Ray thin clients; in addition,
Esteem provides mobile workers with Compaq iPAQs or Dell laptops so they can
access e-mail and a CRM application, and carry out demonstrations at
customer sites. In addition, Esteem has implemented Citrix NFuseTM
application portal software to allow all applications to be accessed via a
standard Web browser.

"Our organisation has grown quickly - recently we have almost doubled in
size," said Alastair Kitching, Director, Esteem. "Citrix technology has
enabled us to roll out applications almost instantaneously, so expansion was
easy and painless. Considering over 50 percent of our employees are
field-based, delivering applications to any location is vital."

Esteem turned to Citrix MetaFrame for Solaris to provide broader access to
UNIX® applications from any device, without requiring an extra software tier
or terminal emulation. Citrix MetaFrame for Solaris delivers UNIX
applications to users anywhere, via any network connection or device - be it
a Sunray or PDA. Citrix technology minimises bandwidth, enabling Esteem to
save money on communications lines, and the use of Sun Ray thin clients has
kept hardware expenses low.

"We are pleased to see members of our Citrix Solutions Network taking
advantage of the application server computing model for their own
operations," said Jane Rimmer, Marketing Director, Northern Europe, Citrix
Systems. "Citrix products help all types of organisations reduce computing
costs while enabling them to immediately deploy new applications for a
competitive advantage."
