InfoSpace signs two year contract with eDirectory.co.uk Plc for “white label” online shopping management Wednesday 10 October 2001 PDF Print eDirectory.co.uk Plc, ("eDirectory") the leading online shopping centre and e-commerce provider, today announced it has signed a 24-month contract with InfoSpace in the UK. InfoSpace is a leading provider of the platform and applications that enable partners to deliver consumer and commerce services across the Internet to any device over current and next generation networks This agreement means that eDirectory will form and manage the majority of InfoSpace's UK shopping channel, “e-Shopping”. This channel will be supported by widespread text links into the eDirectory online shopping centre from InfoSpace's Business Finder (Yellow Pages). These e-Shopping and Business Finder solutions are provided across a broad range of InfoSpace’s affiliate and partner sites throughout the UK. Current clients include AOL.co.uk, Netscape.co.uk, FT.com, Telegraph.co.uk and Orange.net among others eDirectory will provide InfoSpace with a re-brandable (“white label”) online shopping system to be implemented across current and future InfoSpace affiliate websites in the UK. This service will be based on eDirectory's extensive online database of consumer goods and will use eDirectory's proprietary and secure e-commerce systems. eDirectory will source and manage a wide variety of shopping content, products and special offers for InfoSpace in the UK. These offers will be derived from eDirectory’s established base of over 600 retailers and merchants. Additional new merchants will be recruited by eDirectory to support the project. Specific retail offers will be carefully targeted at the visitors to InfoSpace affiliate sites. Commission revenues from all online orders taken via the service will be shared between the two organisations. Managing Director of eDirectory.co.uk Plc, Dominic Allonby comments: "InfoSpace has significant traffic reach in the UK, and eDirectory will add to this a unique combination of products, proprietary technology and innovative shopping facilities. This is an exciting development for our company and demonstrates our position as the UK’s leading shopping content provider“ Alex Hurd, InfoSpace Europe's Director of Commerce Services, comments: "This agreement provides significant benefits for both parties. InfoSpace's shopping channel will be greatly improved by eDirectory's massive merchant and product range. Meanwhile, eDirectory will benefit from InfoSpace's broad distribution network. Growing together, the two parties will be greater than the sum of their parts. This formula is consistent with InfoSpace's philosophy of evolving, not revolutionising, consumers' attitudes to buying on-line.” ~ends~ About eDirectory.co.uk plc: 1. eDirectory operates the virtual shopping centre http://www.edirectory.co.uk which enables independent and niche businesses to have a genuine online presence without the need for a stand alone website, or established on-line retailers with another point of sale for their products. 2. eDirectory specialise in providing both their proprietary technology and comprehensive shopping content as a “white label solution” to web-site owners who wish to have their own revenue generating shopping service. eDirectory brand and design the system to look exactly like the host web-site.
