Global consulting and systems integration business Syntegra today announced that it has signed a UK agreement with Calendra, a leading provider of directory content management solutions, to deliver faster access to enterprise wide, mission critical data and applications.

The combination of Calendra technology with Syntegra skills in building Secure Enterprise Networks, means that major companies can obtain vast improvements in the quality and speed of information they provide to employees and trading partners, whilst extending and enhancing their existing investments in directory technology.

At the heart of Calendra's technology is a highly flexible and graphical tool called CDM (Calendra Directory Manager). Using this tool companies have much greater capacity for offering employees faster access to data repositories and enterprise-wide applications. Applications that hitherto would be highly costly to implement can now be cost justified. For example, companies wishing to increase the level of inter-company communications can use Calendra to manage PKI certificates with reduced cost overheads. Similarly, companies seeking to reduce the cost of managing remote workers could use Calendra tools to manage remote access to data stores and implement concepts such as Single Sign On (SSO).

As more companies view a directory as the foundation of their eBusiness architecture, companies need powerful tools to help employees gain access to the data held within them. Customers will have the ability to quickly deploy enterprise directory based applications such as white/yellow pages, organisational charts and user management applications. A higher return on investment can be achieved by leveraging the content of directory infrastructure.

“Calendra Directory Manager (CDM) has allowed us to create multiple representations of directory information, creating a structure that can suit individual and group requirements. The organisation or structure can be replicated from a company’s functional or geographical structure to provide a powerful means for easily searching for the clients’ information. It has allowed us to rapidly develop prototype solutions that have captured the imagination of clients. This has helped demonstrate to these customers the critical business benefits that a directory infrastructure can bring through the use of capabilities such as Delegated and Self Administration of user’s information says Richard Baker, technology consultant at Syntegra.

Commenting on the relationship with Syntegra, Arnaud Lagarde, Calendra UK’s General Manager said, ”Under this agreement, Calendra and Syntegra are seizing the opportunity to better demonstrate the benefits of directory services and improved infrastructure to large organisations.

The end user self service and delegated administration capabilities provided by CDM allow for better quality, and cheaper maintenance of directory information, without the end user having to be an IT expert. This frees up valuable IT administration resource.” Lagarde continues, “We are delighted to be chosen by a large systems integrator such as Syntegra, and the agreement will provide us the opportunity to allow our customers to achieve a faster ROI on Enterprise Directory Infrastructure, and an improved time to market of directory applications”
