Dortmund, October 16, 2001.

MATERNA GmbH Information & Communications will present various products and solutions to be marketed under the Anny Way telecommunications brand at Systems 2001, hall B4, booth 100. Company presence at Systems 2001 will focus mainly on the benefits of using enhanced messaging services (EMS), SMS text messages in fixed networks and for supporting mobile payments. Furthermore, MATERNA in partnership with Hewlett Packard will reveal an innovative new product, Anny Way Mobility Services. This solution helps companies to provide company data to employees on the move at any time.

EMS Succeeds SMS

The introduction of EMS services will support an increase in the amount of data that can be included in SMS text messages. New possibilities include the formatting of texts and the provision of three different font sizes. Additional, messages can now be designed with black and white graphics and melodies. It is also possible to download barcodes for flights or tickets for the theatre or other such events.
At Systems 2001, MATERNA will demonstrate how to send an EMS message and visitors to the show will have the opportunity to compile and send their own messages that consist of a combination of images, sounds and texts.

SMS Text Messages in Fixed Networks

Anny Way services also enable users to dispatch SMS text messages from one fixed network to another fixed network and to mobile phones. Analog fixed network subscribers can also receive SMS text messages. In a matter of weeks, straightforward text messages will be complemented by value-added services such as, for instance, news or traffic information, which will be available to holders of SMS-compatible fixed network devices.

Mobile Phone Payments

Thanks to Anny Way mobile phone payment solutions, mobile phones will become wallets. Products can be simply ordered via Internet or WAP and the order confirmed by entering the respective mobile phone and PIN number. Payment method options include credit card, direct debit or as supplementary charge included in the mobile phone invoice.

A live demonstration of a mobile payment transaction will take place at the MATERNA booth.

Intranet when on the Move

MATERNA has chosen Systems as the venue for the launch of its Anny Way Mobility Services. This solution will allow mobile workers to obtain information relevant for their work at any time and place via SMS and WAP. This innovative idea consolidates MATERNA's position in the WASP (Wireless Application Service Provider) sector. Hewlett-Packard has been contracted to manufacture the hardware - the mobility box. MATERNA, for its part, will equip the mini server with the required software and operate the GSM network connection.

Mobile Unified Messaging Extends Range of Functions

The combination of the Anny Way Office EDITION product lines with mobile infrastructures adds impetus to mobile business. Anny Way Office EDITION Web Access paves the way for Unified Messaging functions in the Internet. Using this solution, e-mails, faxes, voice mails and telephone calls can be simply and comfortably managed and administered via a web browser. Moreover, Anny Way Office EDITION WAP Access enables users to call up data by pressing a button on their mobile phone or PDA. Advantages: shorter response times, greater flexibility and enhanced availability of information.
Mobile Unified Messaging is, effectively, an enhancement of the existing Unified Messaging solution, which allows employees on the road quick access to all communication means.
