Combined technologies transform enterprise workflow environments
within financial services
Dublin, 16 October 2001 - Eontec, the leading provider of Enterprise JavaBean™ (EJB™)-based multi-channel banking software, today announced the successful integration of BankFrame, Eontec’s Enterprise Banking Platform, with IBM MQ Series* Workflow. This product integration demonstrated the complementary nature of BankFrame and IBM MQ Series Workflow in the assembly of workflow-based applications. Together, the products enable the reuse of business-critical banking processes across a banks entire enterprise, incorporating back office workflow-based systems and all customer touchpoints including loans processing, call centre and internet banking applications.
The integration of BankFrame with IBM MQ Series Workflow was carried out in response to the growing demand for workflow technology across financial institutions that enable banks to fully harness the benefits of component-based technology.
MQ Series Workflow, like other enabling technologies, is particularly suitable for the assembly of component-based applications because it facilitates the reuse of those components both within applications and through enterprise-wide workflow systems. Deployed in conjunction with BankFrame - which consists of more than 400 reusable banking processes, architecture and development tools - duplication across applications is prevented by enabling common processes to be invoked across multiple applications throughout the enterprise.
Enabling process reuse accelerates delivery time, reduces total cost of ownership, facilitates easy maintenance and ensures component robustness. With applications using the same component base, consistency is also enhanced across the financial organisation.
According to Jim Callan, chief executive officer, Eontec: "Every bank reviewing its multi-channel strategy must seriously consider deploying a solution with workflow and business processes embedded in the underlying architecture. This provides not only support to the banks existing infrastructure but will enable it to process larger volumes of customer queries from different touchpoints on a daily basis. It also allows the banks to market a wider variety of tailored products and services, expanding its existing customer base as a result of faster turn around times."
Eontec works with IBM, including IBM Global Services, for implementations and delivery. The company also supports the sale of IBM WebSphere* e-infrastructure software, Tivoli**, MQ Series, DB2* Universal Database and VisualAge* for Java development tools to financial services organisations.
Callan comments: "Eontec’s development with MQ Series Workflow is yet another example of BankFrame’s seamless integration with IBM middleware. Our complementary products and knowledge of the financial services marketplace guarantee high-performance technology that offers rapid and flexible solutions to the IT development of global financial institutions."
