16 October 2001 - A software module that allows users to monitor network performance against Service Level Agreements (SLAs) is being made available free by British-based network management specialist Chevin.


The powerful SNMP Reporter trial module is one of many available with Chevin’s flagship TeVISTA management suite. The module is now available for free download from www.chevin.com.


SNMP Reporter is a straightforward module that works with any SNMP/RMON equipped device. The trial version offers extensive information essential to managing the network and monitoring Service Level Agreements and provides performance statistics for 4 ports. The fully functional SNMP Reporter available in the TeVISTA Suite includes unlimited port monitoring, MAC addresses associated with each port, faster port scanning for IP addresses, and the logging of port utilisation information to disk.


Chevin maintains that each of these components is essential for managing the network and monitoring Service Level Agreements by gaining greater visibility of the performance of WAN links to the LAN.

Working with TeVISTA, the module provides statistics for each port on a switch including percentage utilisation, packets per second, data volumes, error information including collisions and discards, and total uptime including counts for broadcast and multicast traffic.
