Auspex teams up with UK based messaging specialist Essential to help users deal with long-term growth in e-mail storage requirements

Storage Expo, NEC –October 17th 2001 - Auspex Systems Ltd. announces a joint initiative with Essential Computing Ltd to deliver an intelligent and cost effective e-mail archiving solution based on EDUCOM’s Exchange Archive Solution (EAS) and NAS pioneers, Auspex’s NS3000 series enterprise NAS servers in the UK and Europe.

The EAS / Auspex archiving solution addresses a primary cause of the data explosion, E-mail, by managing a company’s Exchange data while allowing them to stay within the law by retaining all commercial e-mail.

Auspex NAS servers provide a cost effective and scaleable storage solution that allows IT managers to add extra capacity as and when required using hot swap disk technology.

Auspex network servers streamline EAS’s off-line storage function with a LAN-free backup/archiving feature that permits high-speed data transfer to tape without the performance degradation that can normally occur when backups are performed over the LAN.

The Auspex NS3000 series NAS servers have been certified by VeriTest, an independent test lab, to be compatible with Microsoft applications including Windows 2000 and Exchange Server 5.5, ensuring performance in Microsoft environments.

EAS software eliminates duplicate messages before archiving them, compresses archived messages to conserve storage space and provides users with full text search and retrieval capabilities for archived mail.

Keith Quinn, Sales Director, Essential Computing says: "Other NAS and SAN suppliers are teaming up with archive solutions that actually generate the need for more storage than ever, rather than promoting the efficient use of storage. By teaming up with EDUCOM, Auspex are offering clients space-efficient, long term storage solutions, not short term mass storage sales".

Paul Sleep, European Marketing Director, Auspex Systems says:

“The combination of EDUCOM TS EAS and Auspex NAS technology provides the end user with an efficient and cost effective platform that can be scaled to meet current requirements.”

Sleep concludes: “NAS offers the most cost effective repository for archived e-mail while allowing for affordable and incremental addition of disk space as and when required with zero disruption.”
