Vector’s LANutil Elite in swap-out deal replacing Microsoft SMS

Tamworth, Staffs and Portsmouth - 25th October 2001 - Portsmouth Naval Base has purchased a 1500 user license of Vector Networks’ PC management suite - LANutil Elite. The remote control component of LANutil Elite, PC-Duo, was one of the key reasons for the success of the deal with Vector distributor, Essential Computing.

β€œThe installation of LANutil Elite has greatly improved the support service to customers. Instantaneous connectivity and control via PC-Duo has had a massive impact for technical support staff eliminating the need for numerous on site visits” - Technical Support Manager

β€œLANutil will primarily be used for recording software installations on every PC and for measuring the quantity of each product installed to ensure compliance with the license. An additional feature is the product’s ability to record serial number, make and manufacturer of PC’s, which will be exported directly into the department’s asset database.” – Configuration Manager

Colin Bartram, Product Marketing Director at Vector Networks comments:

β€œThe benefits obtained by Portsmouth Naval Base, with their large number of PCs spread over several buildings, after implementing LANutil Elite re-emphasise the results we saw in our annual industry survey. This research indicated that if support staff visits for specific technical problems were to be reduced by 50% then the majority of companies would be saving over 15 hours of work time per week across the whole support staff.”
