Utimaco Safeware, European provider of professional security solutions, today announced that it has implemented a number of changes within its corporate infrastructure to streamline business processes and to set the course for further consolidation of the company. This reorganisation exercise included the division of the company structure into four separate lines of business. This initiative was largely driven by a need to effectively manage the company’s accelerated growth throughout Europe.
The initial phases of restructuring involved completing the integration of German network security provider KryptoKom and all of its products into the Utimaco infrastructure – Utimaco acquired KryptoKom in July 1999.
Following this, Utimaco divided its business into four distinct lines comprising network security, personal device security, digital transaction security and security modules. In addition, Utimaco have established a systems house for consulting services and special projects. The five business areas operate independently from each other and each one has profit and loss responsibility for its own product line, whilst also benefiting from the overall support of the Utimaco Safeware parent group. The result will be highly beneficial to customers, as the products will have a focused, more rapid route to market and faster support response. By breaking away from the traditional hierarchy, customer queries can be resolved with minimum delay on a regional basis.
Utimaco regrets to announce that its chairman of the management board, Hans-Christoph Wolf, has decided not to renew his contract as from 31 October 2001 to pursue his leisure activities. He commented; “With these latest measures I am confident that Utimaco Safeware is on the right path to fulfilling a vital role within the IT security market for professional security solutions.” Following his departure from the company, Utimaco will assume the increasingly popular European business model of committee-based management, with the management board reporting into the supervisory board.
