BankFrame™ demonstrates reliability and scalability across entire IBM enterprise server product suite

Dublin, 6 November 2001 – Eontec, the leading provider of Enterprise JavaBean™ (EJB™)-based multi-channel banking software, today announced the successful deployment of BankFrame™, Eontec’s e-Banking platform, on the IBM* eServer** z900 platform. Financial institutions can now deploy BankFrame’s EJB-based banking applications across all channels on the mainframe, meeting demands for high availability mission-critical applications and banking processes across the banking enterprise.

Eontec has been working closely with IBM to deploy BankFrame with successive generations of IBM platforms. The completion of the z900 deployment means BankFrame is now available across IBM’s complete eServer suite. This demonstrates the complementary nature of BankFrame and IBM technology, providing banks with the capability to operate a true multi-channel service from a single e-banking platform.

Proving BankFrame’s availability on IBM’s z900 platform allows banks to bring new products and channels to market faster, enabled by the rapid integration and reuse of business critical banking processes across a banks entire enterprise. All processes relating to customer touchpoints, including loans and payments processing, branches, wireless and internet banking applications, can be easily integrated and accessible.

According to John Randles, chief technology officer, Eontec: “A large installed base of z900 exists within the banking market due to its unsurpassed reliability and suitability for management of applications in a multi-tier environment. Through the pre-configuration of BankFrame and IBM’s z900 platform, banks can be confident in ease of product deployment and speed of implementation. Unparalleled scalability, high availability and 24/7 access of BankFrame’s mission critical banking processes across all delivery channels is now guaranteed in any IBM environment.”

The deployment, completed using Linux, Websphere and DB2, has been undertaken to address the current period of legacy renewal - such as the replacement of COBOL with component-based systems on the mainframe - and server consolidation strategies of large tier one banks.

Kathleen Smith, Director, eServer Marketing, Global Financial Services
at IBM stated, “The ability to manage diverse workloads and banking applications across the enterprise is integral to the financial services marketplace. IBM and Eontec have developed a clear synergy based on complementary products and enterprise that help meet this need, demonstrated through the successful deployment of BankFrame on the z900 platform. Banks have yet another choice with an Enterprise Banking Platform to provide the necessary integration of core banking processes and advanced applications across the enterprise.”
