@rchive-it.com launches archiving solution for Microsoft's BizTalk Server
Comdex, Stand 150, Microsoft Partner Pavilion, 12th November 2001 -
Microsoft Partner, @rchive-it.com, announced today the launch of Biz@rchive,
the first secure, fully audited, policy controlled, archiving solution for
Microsoft's BizTalk Server. Designed specifically to meet regulatory, legal
and business requirements, Biz@rchive allows companies to achieve reliable
long-term archiving for e-commerce documents whilst providing the means to
immediately recover data in the event of a server failure. Biz@rchive will
be demonstrated for the first time in public at Comdex 2001, Las Vegas, USA,
Microsoft's BizTalk Server allows companies and their trading partners to
exchange business information electronically, irrespective of the
applications, operating systems or programming language used. Although
BizTalk Server provides a means to track documents within the system, it is
@rchive-it.com's Biz@rchive that will meet organisations' need for the long
term retention and management of business documents.
"Research has shown that the cost of managing data can be up to 10 times the
cost of the media on which it is stored," commented Peter Winder, CEO of
@rchive-it.com. "As e-commerce transactions become more and more automated
there is an increasing need for organisations to manage and archive data
according to policies and legal requirements, which places yet another
financial burden on many companies. By using BizTalk Server to streamline
these processes and Biz@rchive to provide automatic archiving, organisations
will significantly reduce the overhead management costs."
Since Biz@rchive provides a comprehensive audited system, it can also reduce
the costs of dispute resolution because it enables data to be retrieved
easily and quickly. This benefit can equally be applied to Discovery in the
event of a dispute being taken to a court of law, classically a very high
cost function. It is also possible for Biz@rchive to be deployed by a third
party Service Provider which may further increase the legal weight of the
electronic information in question. In addition, Biz@rchive's policy driven
design allows organisations to minimise their potential legal exposure
through the prompt deletion of data no longer required, which may contain
potentially damaging information.
Policies are the key element of Biz@rchive's document lifecycle management.
They are used to classify the document, set retention parameters and decide
whether or not the information should be encrypted. Once set, Biz@rchive
will determine if the document should be archived and for how long. Time
periods can be set to either a specific date or for a specific length of
time, such as 5 years for invoices.
Pricing will be announced at Comdex, but Winder says the starting price for
an entry level system will be around £5000 ($7,500).
