November 14th, 2001 – Wonderware a unit of the Invensys Software Systems group of Invensys, plc, has introduced version 3.0 of its Avantis.XA software for enterprise asset management (EAM) solutions for IBM AS/400 system users.

Targeted to Global 1000 companies wanting to optimise their capital investments, the new Avantis features increased operational efficiency, reduced total cost of equipment ownership and provides unparalleled functionality to significantly optimise asset performance.

“The content of release 3.0 is a direct result of our annual customer voting process that provides our global customers, across all industries, the ability to voice their opinion on the priority of enhancement requests for the product,” explained John Jennings, director of Avantis support at Wonderware.
The latest Avantis.XA enhancements focus on productivity improvements that ensure end users remain efficient and can improve their bottom line profitability, he noted. Release 3.0 also provides a closer connection to desktop systems by delivering enhanced export capabilities to office applications such as Microsoft Excel spreadsheets, an expanded ability to link PC files to business applications within the Avantis.XA solution and enhanced integration with e-mail systems.

“In addition to the customer vote, we continue to leverage our User Advisory Council to help us develop products that meet evolving business needs,” said Kim Custeau, Avantis director of product marketing. “We understand that our customers are an important part of the product development cycle and we value the feedback we receive from our council members.”

The new Avantis.XA Version 3.0 will be available in July 2001 at no additional charge to Wonderware customers that are currently under a support agreement for Avantis.XA.

Avantis is Wonderware’s leading enterprise asset management (EAM) application, offering maintenance management and procurement functionality to optimise capital investments. The solution is widely used in facilities management and capital-intensive industries such as chemicals, mining, metals, and pulp and paper. The EAM solution is available in two best-of-breed versions, the Avantis.Pro solution for client/server systems, and the Avantis.XA solution for the IBM AS/400 platform. Objects within the applications can be seamlessly integrated with industry-leading application solutions for workflow, financials, document management and imaging.
