The World Association of Internet Marketing (WAIM) met in Berlin on 16 November to formalise its constitution and set membership fees. The Association – www.waim.org - formed in October 2000 will promote online marketing, set standards and establish ethics as well as facilitating learning amongst its members.
Around 100 members from across the world have already met the stringent standards demanded by WAIM and a further 200 internet marketing professionals are waiting to be approved by the executive committee. New applicants must be established in the field and able to submit examples of their work in order to obtain membership.
Dixon Jones of Receptional.com a UK member who attended the Berlin conference explained. “WAIM represents best practice in this new emerging marketing discipline and will set high standards for its members both in terms of technical expertise and ethics. We anticipate that WAIM will in time become the regulatory body of the internet marketing industry.”
